But I'm a gyroplane fan, and an aviation fan in general, so I'd own any plane givin the chance!
How about a car with 3 wheels with an ICE that gets 92 MPG? http://www.fuelvaporcar.com/Well, it's a car and it flies, but it's a gyroplane, so I don't think it's what springs to mind when you say "flying car". Besides, been there done that: http://www.celieraviation.com/xenon-pro.html
For a REAL flying car, check out the Switchblade from Samson Motors: http://www.samsonmotorworks.com/
What I like about it is they're designing it so that after they finally get the plane built, they're going to release a version without wings that is strictly a propeller-driven two-passenger car. And if you think the road to Elio is long and pitted, check out some of the blog entries. Absolutely NOTHING about this is off-the-shelf.
OK. I'm all in!
Interesting ... I notice that limited production is expected to begin in 2008. I wonder how they're doing now...How about a car with 3 wheels with an ICE that gets 92 MPG? http://www.fuelvaporcar.com/
The x prize was announced in 2006 and run in 2010 I believe and they did not do too bad, but not as well as they wanted. The X prize was awarded in 2010 to a 4 wheeler that got 102.7 mpg. This is pretty old news and last I heard, they were still trying to get the vapor system to work consistently. The vapor carb has been around for years but no one seems to have proved anything except that the prototypes were all destroyed by the government or Big Oil. The vapor is hard to control, and meter but you can run your car on it. I am not sure they are getting the power and the mileage they claim though. The vapor is a little sensitive. Most seem to boil the gas to make the vapor and then you have a pretty dangerous mix outside of the cylinder. One of the vapor cars burned up in the garage somehow. Loose vapor I suspect, or maybe a conspiracy of some sort. Good luck to them, but I have not seen much from these guys since 2010. May be waiting for an ATVM loan too. I hope Elio gets his first with proven technology that works like we are used to.Interesting ... I notice that limited production is expected to begin in 2008. I wonder how they're doing now...
