Very nicely done. If/when you get around to building it, you might want to consider moving the pedal box behind the centerline of the the front wheels. Otherwise, even a minor front-end collision could wind up crushing the pilot's feet and/or lower legs.

An ejection seat would take car of that :D[as long as you're not under an overpass]

[good point, Eliothegreat!....But love Ari's 'vision'!]

That reminds me of the episode of Top Gear where they put an ejector seat in a car but forgot to change the roof so that it pops out. The guy is a lot shorter now.

Well that seems to move the weight too far back. It's better to put some more crush-ables up front, which also move more weight forward, and that's OK in this case. Crushables might be some foam and cardboard laminate, or empty pop bottles/cans.

Only about 12 to 18 inches is enough. You might think you have more than that in the elio or other FWD car. But in actuality solid things like the engine take up some of that space transferring the impact some distance the same way that Newton's Cradle Balance balls do.

When solid assemblies foldup into empty spaces, not hitting one-another, then the cradle balance action is avoided.

This is off topic for Elio, I'm still seeking a final design for the Super cheep scooter car ( as you may remember ). By final, I mean it satisfies my curiosity at the most possible concept. i.e I may not ever build it. But then, you never know.

In this, a Chinese ( low quality but cheep ) scooter is the engine donor. The attached is a stab at it using double A-Arms and a R&P steering unit.
The crazy thing is this one, the steering wheel ends up in a 'trucker' position, nearly flat. But can be swung out of the way. The driver hands you see, I just didn't bother contorting then into the proposed position. Nore did I show how the top will open, but you can guess how that would be.

It's a very odd styling, more about ease of construction than looks. Yes, this is a Scooter, no crash worthiness intended. Headlights TBD.(probably pods as like a Morgan might have)

So here's the latest update one I've also been working on, the MidEngine (650cc Suzuki TRM). It's fast, not cheap. Maybe a little inexpensive.
There is also another version of the simple scooter too. I'll post it when a bit more complete.

It's really kind of a private horse race I'm running for myself, to generate the best designs to selected purposes.
Hey, it's better than a bar-room hangout ! Everybody should have a hobbie...

Here's another craft that I find interesting, if battery power can get a bit more dense.. Tilt-rotor Hex-Copter. Half the rotors tilt, the others remain fixed to provide lift and leveling control. It's also a canard wing configuration. Battery packs are quick changeable.
Can it fly? I don't see why not.

Cool!:)

Your propulsion system kind of reminds me of the Avatar Helicopters. Sort of the same principle.

Yep. The control systems don't exist for the Avatar copter, but they do for a Quad-Copter. So that why I think this is doable. Of course, upsizing the scale to lift a human, well that's where it challenge is.

BTW, latest artwork for the MidEngine below... I do like the look at the front-end.
