Not sure if anyone has seen this before but the Elio concept was already done back in 1955.
1955 Messerschmitt KR 200. Elvis owned one. Still hoping Elio gets funding.

I believe forum member DAVID BROWER rebuilt them as a hobby. He had some really clean builds, too.

I think the Xenia is also a close match except for the four motorcycle wheels. It had seating for two, one in front of the other, and it used the description "cyclecar". This was made in 1914.

Yes of course, a tandem three wheeler has been made as a 'Kabinroller' or cabin-scooter, a good number actually. Yet now, none with a full cabin exist made in the US. And that class in it's prior forms would not be up to spec for the US freeways. Even the ones made in the US in prior times aren't up to the needed spec.

Elio is one of the very few world-wide, or historically, that has the full specs needed, i.e, for all weather commuting on any US roads up to posted 65mph (90+ top speed) with a good range, 2 tandem seats. Add in the crash safety, 85mpg, low price, and no, it's never been done before.

I feel the Corbin Sparrow (solo) and some others aren't up to spec because they don't have the wheel base and are rear wheel drive, some have no full cabin, etc etc.

I'd consider the Canadian Mechannica but it doesn't have the range, has RWD and a small wheel base, no air bags, solo not tandem, little too expensive for my budget, sub-par crash certification, etc, etc.

I never understand these statements. It would be like me saying that I'd consider an RX-8 but it doesn't have a 995 cc three cylinder engine and it's not front wheel drive. or I'd consider a new Miata but it does not have tandem seating, it has two doors, doesn't give 85 mpg and it's too expensive vs an Elio. Only thing I can figure out is people create a specification package and it narrows everything down to one vehicle, thus they need to tell you everything they won't buy because it doesn't meet those specs. At this point I might as well tell you that I won't be buying a new Porsche GT3RS because it doesn't come in a diesel or have an 8ft bed to haul plywood.

Sub- par crash testing? The SOLO apparently met or exceeded Canada’s crash testing requirements. As I recall, there is a crash test video out there somewhere. Your statement as to why you won’t consider purchasing a SOLO is very clear and understandable.......it doesn’t meet your wants, needs, and budget.

Well said Rickb. ELIO maybe "everything" to somebody but it's "imaginary specs" can't be compared to any other 3wheelers with verifiable test results, sorry.
