It looks like 435 F-15 aircraft will be updated to keep them flying until 2040. I'll bet at least one guy on this forum is pretty ecstatic about that. The aircraft is certainly worthy of it, as the second most bad-ass plane in the US inventory (after the A-10, sorry).
12 Billion dollars sound like a lot, but the same money would buy only 36 of the Navy variant F-35C.
