I'm not worrying about his financials. He's on a tour this year hitting 210 spots. He played Packard Music Hall where they charged between $85 and $110 for tickets, not some basement comedy club with a two-drink minimum. According to the reviews, he's still packing in the people. So if I get to see him when he's in this area, I'll ask him.
I'm sorry.

I forgot to paste a smilie to the end of that post.

Gino Raffin said "The work we do on these vehicles will provide important insight that will make for a smooth transition when we begin hiring production workers for the consumer vehicle launch."

It was questioned before, who would be building the 100 vehicles, and believed by some, that the regular production workers would be doing the building. I believe the above statement by Gino Raffin shows the production workers will not be doing the building because, according to him, the production workers will be hired after the 100 are built.

And where are you getting this feeling? Any basis in fact?
I suspect whoever is buying the 100 is also bringing Roush into the picture. This is because racing is the only thing I can think of these 100 vehicles being used for.

I suspect these 100 vehicles may be used for racing. Hence Roush's involvement. If so, this was probably agreed to a long time ago by the three parties (EM Roush, and customer) and it was probably agreed that Roush would be doing the initial engineering development as part of the racing development. Roush's work may be free for EM. If a vehicle is to be used for racing, it is best the racing development company be involved from the very beginning when the vehicle is designed in the first place. It makes better racing results and is probably cheaper. Good street drivability is probably a trivial freebie Roush throws in along the way.

Before you ask..........this is my opinion...........isn't most everything posted on this website an opinion.

I was looking in my archived EM emails and could not find the email telling about the 100 preproduction vehicles. I couldn't find it. It is in news releases.

Has EM sent to us an email telling us about these 100 preproduction vehicles? I would hope so considering we are the ones who put the deposits down and have been postponed so many times.

.

And who will the 100 Elios be racing against? I might be wrong but, I don't think there is even a sanctioned event that has a classification for reverse trikes.

I think the only logical use for these 100, is to put them in "real world driving conditions" where they can rack-up a bunch of miles pretty quickly, while keeping them close at hand for inspection and maintenance. And with this many vehicles there are also bound to be accidents. Each Elio will (most likely) be fitted with a "black box" to record data.

I really don't think EM will need to "discount" them. From past observation, (along with what I was told by the car dealership manager)... When an exciting new car comes to market (ie,the "new" VW, the Mini Cooper), the first ones go straight to auction and the dealership, (selling it to another different make dealership) could make $10-$15K over market value! So, I asked him, "why would a Lexus dealer want to buy (and over-pay) for a new VW? His reply was, "Yes, we will loose money on the car, BUT sooo many people will stop in to look at it, OUR sales will go WAY UP!
This is why (I think) "exclusive rights" to a fleet of Elios might be worth paying more than retail. The attention it brings to a corporation could generate millions! And rental fees ("if" it were to be someone like Avis or Hertz) wouldn't need to be discounted either as "short supply" will create "high demand." Especially among FUTURE ELIO OWNERS! ;):D
