There are numerous discussion on the board about the latest delay. The latest goal is first half of 2016. It has been stated by Paul that there are funding issues. But there has been progress. The engine has been debuted and shown running on the Dyno. They will be showing at the NY Auto show, which is a big deal. They have opened up investment opportunities to the general public (if you are qualified). The plant is not ready to produce, but we shouldn't expect it to be ready until several months prior to production and hiring begins.

If they wait much longer, the 85 mpg will not seem so 'magical' as others are in the process of catching up. The 45 mpg city rating is already out of the competition as there are other options in that range now. Time is really not on Elios side unless they continue innovation to stay ahead of the curve. I rarely check on progress any more, having also written off any chance of seeing this in the next year or even 18 months. By the time it is available, I am sure other things will be competing for my money.

What else is getting 80mpg for under $7 grand? I was getting around 45mpg city in my TDI, though it cost $23,000. My wife is much happier in her V70 than I was in the VW though, mileage isn't everything. :D

As I've said elsewhere, the mythical mileage target is wonderful (and personally very attractive for my high-mileage work commuting), but the overwhelmingly dominant attraction, esp with gas prices supposed to remain low $2 for a couple more years, is the selling price for a new vehicle, which dominates total cost of ownership for the first few years.

Hey all, sorry to be negative, in reality I've given up on seeing this car in the next year or so. I also have already sent my "all in payment" to the loss column just for my own sanity. :-(
Thank you for informing us that you're going to finally release yourself and hit the streets. LOL

... just start PRODUCTION already !! :-(

such frustration is easily understood and shared by a good number of others ... what it all boils down to is, we've paid our money and from here on its totally out of our hands .... I do believe that Paul and company are doing all they can to make it happen but can understand others who aren't comfortable with doing so ....

Just wondering if anyone can tell me the magical question?? When will production start? Last year at this time is was supposed to be NOW (March 2015), by the time I put my reservation it was pushed back to Sept 2015. As time has passed and some of my colleagues ask "hey what about that weird car you are supposed to get" i've told myself that it may never happen. Sadly I've been shopping around for a second vehicle since my kids are always having to borrow mine (That was my purpose of getting an Elio). So... when will we see production? Has Elio even got the plant ready to produce? I'm tired of hearing about new people joining the board, and so on... just start PRODUCTION already !! :-(
It's not negatiivity, you have just lost hope. I do think it's a little premature to chalk your all in reservation up as a loss. Quick, pull it out of the loss column and re-evaluate the situation on July 4th.

What else is getting 80mpg, ICE at any price?, and until EV's fear of running out of juice syndrome is resolved I see nothing on the horizon. Personally, if it gets what my best bike got( about 40mpg) I'm a happy camper- it's my replacement motorcycle-If a slingshot w/ a.c. enclosed cab was offered- I'm in and I have no idea/nor care the milage!
E Arrival date seems more important when you turn 73 this year-LOL

Actually I think the Star VStar 1300 gets high 70's and it's about as aerodynamic as a brick. I think most of the 250 crotch rockets get high 60's and 70's. And they're all way over $7 grand. :) However that's talking motorcycle, motorcycle.
