Playoffs should be excellent in general. Predictions for this weekend's games:
  • CAR over AZ
  • if Bell can't go for PIT, BAL has a chance, hard to pick that one right now
  • Will be really hard for Cincy to go into IND and win, so give the lean to IND
  • DAL over DET by 10+

Well I got 2 of the games right. Then Dal had to scramble to beat Det, and I couldn't make up my mind on Pit and Bal. :cool:

Three of the games were not in question when the 4th qtr started.

Ok, for the games this weekend:
  • Bal @ NE: Pats should win easily, Ravens ran for 49 yds against Pit, that won't get it done against NE;
  • Car @ Sea: I mentioned it earlier on this thread, I feel bad for the team that has to go to Sea;
  • Dal @ GB: This might be the best game of the weekend, or at least it may be in question when the 4th qtr starts; Romo was sacked 6 times and hit many more, if that happens in GB this weekend, Packers win easily, as long as Rodgers' calf does not bother him; I pick GB
  • Ind @ Den: I give Ind a puncher's chance; if Indy can pressure Manning, and Luck plays as well as he did against Cincy, the Colts could pull an upset; what the heck, I'll pick Ind

My winner prediction for this weekend...
NE for the same reason you gave (NE by 13)
CAR - they played great Defense against, I'll admit, the weakest playoff team but they seem to be playing a couple notches higher than regular season when they played SEA and held them to 1 touchdown and 2 field goals. (CAR by 4)
DAL - my wife's team... they seem to be able to find ways to win this year and GB is one of those teams that can be very explosive and then lay a dud. If Carolina's defense plays well, it'll be a tough win for GB if their offense steps up. I don't think GB's defense will stop Carolina's offense in stride. (DAL by 13)
IND - I just can't pick DEN no matter what. (stupid 1999 Superbowl beating my Falcons) Okay, fine. (DEN by 6).

Let's see.
NE over Baltimore, a possible offensive battle.
Carolina goes down to Seattle. Defense this time.
Green Bay over Dallas, "if" the big plays are limited.
Denver over Indiapolis. Do you really need to ask?? LOL

I hear ya Jim, but I think the media can put spins on things. It wasn't a problem that the refs hadn't worked together before. They are the best refs, and they all have headsets and can talk sooner than being face-to-face. The problem is the rules and the speed of the players. Players are SO fast now, and defenders can run with receivers like it's nothing. For the rules, >>IF<< the receiver (in this case a tight end) is moving away from the ball and >>IF<< there is incidental contact and >>IF<< the defender doesn't turn to see the ball and >>IF<< the receiver reaches for the ball and >>IF<< the defender doesn't physically impede the receiver and >>IF<< the receiver comes back for the ball.... SHEESH!! How is a ref supposed to make a call at real-time?

On that particular play, there were all kinds of hand-fighting and contact between the two as they were running down the field, right up until the ball arrived. A former ref of 20+ yrs said this morning that he wouldn't have thrown a flag on the play, but since the refs DID throw a flag, they should not have picked it up. LOL, there were all kinds of situations during the NFL season where a flag is thrown and then the refs pick it up, and it was the right thing to do, the refs got together, discussed it, no foul, they waved it off. But in THIS CASE, this ref of 20+ yrs says that they should not have waved it off if they were going to throw it.

:confused: Good lord...

So, if you're a Detroit fan, you feel like you got screwed. If you're a Dallas fan, you are thankful they waved it off. :)
Not a Detroit fan normally but I historically pull for any team playing Dallas? Obviously, I was disappointed

LOL, "I just can't pick DEN no matter what"... I resemble that remark!

Wow, Car goes to Seattle and wins, and Dal goes to GB and wins. Bold predictions, well done!

GB is 8-0 at home. That includes wins vs. NE and Philly. Sea is 7-1 at home, only loss to Dal, wins vs. GB and Den. And Car. :) But that's WHY they PLAY the GAMES.

I predict Seattle VS New England in the Super Bowl. Last year we played Denver and it was over by the first snap of the ball. Sorry, I was a big Elway fan too (still am) and that's not very popular in my part of the country. Chuck Knox, yeah ground Chuck, could have drafted Elway ahead of Denver as Seattles' record was worse (go figure) and I can only imagine what could have been with John Elway passing to Steve Largent.
