Hello Elio’ers! This week’s tour blog is coming from Los Angeles, a place that always keeps it interesting. California is our biggest futureliowner base so after the Lobster Festival last week, the tour stayed in the area to spread the word even more. We took the Elio sight-seeing, met some celebrities, and spent the weekend at the Westside Mall.
Sight-seeing
If you were in LA, you very well may have seen the Elio cruising around town. We visited the Santa Monica Pier a couple of times, posed for pictures on the dock and made sure to get the end of Route 66 sign in there! Even seagulls wanted to see what we were all about. We dodged their droppings, thankfully!
After the Pier, we dropped by the Farmer’s Market and the famous Pink’s Hot Dogs… can you tell the tour team was hungry?! With a few folks mid-bite, we told them the $6,800 price tag and let's just say we were prepared to do the heimlich maneuver.
Next, we headed for the hills to see the Hollywood sign. We were stopped by a police officer driving up and we assumed it was because we were having a little too much fun with the turns in the prototype. But, it wasn’t! We got the usual, “What IS that?!” and after a run-through, we gained a potential futureliowner and continued on our way…
Celebrities
We were invited to attend the grand opening of Dance With Me Studios, which Maksim from “Dancing with the Stars” is part owner of. At the opening we met all sorts of celebs – from Leah Remini (Carrie in The King of Queens) to Lea Thompson (Lorraine in Back to the Future) to Tom Lister, Jr. (Deebo in Friday). Everyone loved the Elio, especially “Deebo.” That’s not surprising judging from his affinity for bikes in “Friday” (if you have seen it, you understand)! When he hopped in he joked, “Chris Tucker and Ice Cube, eat your hearts out!”
