Love the descriptive explanation of of the internal combustion engine.:) I have about $50K in automotive diagnostic and repair tools and equipment; and I have a shade tree. Am I qualified? ;)

Teaching small engines to high school students, these were words they NEVER forgot about the 4 cycle.

Shreveport is a port. There are lock and dams to the port of New Orleans. Barge traffic to and from plants on the Red River is robust. Although Louisiana is a right to work state the auto industry was union from the get go. So each plant will have the opportunity to decide, union or not.

I seriously doubt Elio will be a union shop, though much of its (Elio's) board are familiar with the concept it doesn't fit the Elio model............JMO. :)

Well, now you have. I think it's ugly as sin and my friends and family are all laughing at me for even considering it. But as long as the warranty service situation gets straightened out, 9 gallons of gas per week is a lot cheaper than 26.
Beauty and styling is very personal. What you think is ugly now may grow on you over time. You will be the one laughing as you save a ton of cash while driving the fun and functional Elio auto cycle.
I don't care for the looks of the fugly enclosed wheel fairings but rather like the open wheel and Indian fenders. We will have many options to customize the appearance of our Elio.......from fugly to cool. Although, it sounds like none of those options will make the Elio more visually appealing to you. Irregardless......a smart person for becoming a charter member of Elioville.

You will laugh all the way to the gas pump, as you sprint down the HOV lane, on your way to your next adventure..............

That's. Only about 12/hr, working 3 shifts. Those 2nd and 3rd shifts will have to come on quickly because it's difficult to stop and restart the line for an 8-hour worday.

Demand will drive production, but once there are a few thousand Elios are on the road the owners (that's you and me) will be their best emissaries/salespeople.

The second and third shifts will only be put on when the starting shift gets the bugs out of production, the supply line can be guaranteed and they can prove demand will allow them to ship units out to keep their shipping lot from building up and clogging things up. Auto manufacturing is truly a game of supply and demand with many factors needing to be balanced together. Any breakdown in one or all will stop the line and that will cost lots of money. I have seen all this in my years of working for General Motors. Just remember it can be done!

When I first saw the Elio concept drawings I thought the bug-eyed little minnow was . . . well, unlovely. The concept has grown on me, and the faired-in headlights helped. I even got used to the wheel fairings. It really helps rather than to think of the Elio as a car, think of it as a motorcycle with a windshield wiper and air conditioning. See? All better. :)

Everyone has different ideas as to why they want an Elio. Yours is obviously financial as you could save a lot of money by greatly reducing your fuel consumption. Your friends and family can watch you laugh the whole way to the bank as you pocket your savings and have extra cash to enjoy in other ways.
