That's a P5 picture; the air cleaner is installed in that picture, you can see it under the left headlight, it's one of those cone shaped, high performance air filters.
As for a turbo; the turbo for this size engine it could be the size of the ones they use on the 1100 Superbikes that have turbos; just a little thing.
This is only a .9 liter motor

There are a bunch of under the hood, and engine on the stand pictures here on the site, just do a Search for: Engine, Motor, driveline, under hood and you should get a bunch of results.
If I put up my collection; it would take the next 5 or 6 pages.
Very late here, tired.
Saw the Cone shaped airfilter, doubt that kind of filter will be used.
On forced induction, from what I've read Paul was wanting at a later date offer it but was told whole exhaust gas recirculation system would have to be redesigned.
(And main engine components swapped out)

Additionally I've read that Reddit,HVAC contractor isn't happy/ is having problems designing HVAC system due to lack of space.
Both issues IMO being easily solved by making the ELIO slightly wider.

It's a transverse mounted engine, and the compressor will have to be mounted fore or aft of the crank. Making it wider will do little except maybe making it easier to change the belts.

You can't really tell from P5 pictures. The P5 does not have windshield wiper motor, windshield washer bottle, and some other stuff which will take up space. It's also to the final arrangement of what they DO have. The car in the picture is white. It could be the E1-A, and that also is incomplete, since it's being used for brake / ABS tuning at Continental.

Slightly wider comes with a highway mileage penalty. Where did you read that Red Dot is not happy?

Doubt a slight increase in width would affect mileage if frontal area was the SAME...
On HVAC, ELIO before finalizing body should have sent a chassis to Reddot BEFORE doing so.
