So does anyone wonder what Dodge thinks about this? Will they get mad because the supplier is selling their steering wheel design to EM? I'm not talking about the legalities of this. I'm pretty confident that EM and the supplier have done their due diligence to ensure that this is legal. (Not that it would stop Dodge from suing EM anyway, hoping to get them to cave in instead of paying the potentially ruinous legal costs.) But could it backlash on the supplier and cause them to lose business from Dodge? Seems odd to just expect all these big companies to sit back and let an upstart like Elio brag about how the parts for their budget car are the same ones used in expensive sports cars.

I believe that EM will sell more Es than Dodge will sell Vipers. Therefore if the vender could sell to a larger market, a product that was already tooled, he would pay for the privilege.. I am sure that the deal has been made. I really like the Viper wheel.

Don't know how many Vipers are produced per year but I'm sure it's not many. The supplier producing steering wheels for Elio would probably lower the price for Dodge. The rarity of the Viper may be the reason for switch. Maybe the supplier of the Camaro wheel wouldn't be able to keep up with the demand for both Chevrolet and Elio. We may never know the reason for the change but l'm good with it.

My Thought: ORBs have the time and money to go to the events they want to see. Such as, Elio displays. Younger people are still working 40 hour weeks and mowing the lawn on Sat. I believe the Elio appeals to a much broader base of commuters and single people.
True...I took a vacation day on Friday to go see the P5 in Greenwood. Perhaps if Elio could get Bernie Sanders to sit in the P5 - and take his pic, the hip-youngsters who flock to him would get on board. Maybe they could protest in DC for the AVTM loan for Elio....:director::horn:

Did anybody notice that the P5 is taking the next tour stop off? I wonder why? Could it be an update or modification? Maybe a new (more comfortable) rear seat?
Last Sat. Jermaine did say the P5 was going to be taken off-line as it were for tests.

Please describe a "paddle shifter". How does it function? W/WO a clutch? ?

Keep in mind, the "automatic" is NOT an automatic but a standard that is electronically shifted.

That said, the paddle shifters will shift the trans up and down on command. You pull the right paddle to upshift and the left paddle to down shift ! That simple. The only thing missing is the clutch pedal !!!

It gives you much more control over the trans than letting it shift by itself. You can "anticipate" things such as hills, etc., the electronics can only "react" !

Q:
What are paddle shifters?
A:
QUICK ANSWER
Paddle shifters are attached to the steering wheel of a car and allow drivers to manually switch gears without using the clutch. These shifters are mostly found on high-performance sports cars but are becoming more popular on sedans, hybrids and smart cars.

FULL ANSWER
Paddle shifters were originally designed for race car drivers. They allowed drivers to shift the transmission while keeping both hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. Paddle shifters can be useful when driving in areas with many hills. Downshifting the paddle slows the car down without damaging the brakes. Up shifting is helpful when towing uphill.

Great pictures Wizard!!

Clear up the idea of the back seat being roomy for us. I sat in the P4, and I got in the back seat. I'm only 5'7", and it was a tight fit for me.

With the P5, I've read where people said they fit fine in the back seat. How did you fit, was it good?
I mentioned in another thread...........I'm 6'4", "big boned and fluffy" and have a 36" inseam :)

I was able to get in and out fine........the fit in the back seat was fine for me. The armrests are "right there" and I had about 1 - 2 inches of head space (with my hat on).......plenty !!!

Though, I will say, IF....IF you are claustrophobic, the back seat may not be for you !!!
