Of course we haven't even seen the final design of it, so there is that. Actually, we haven't seen the final design of anything! So I'll just continue to patiently wait

The main complaint against it is readability and total waste of space.
Having just that little window on the left to read the tachometer is a complete waste if you have an automatic.
In the center of both are idiot lights.
The comparison most people do is to the P4 which had a Geo Metro dash (instrument cluster)

If it has to be based on a Lord Elgin watch, it would have been better with this 1950's style

I also tire of the debates here about this; it will be the dash of the top photo, period.
If you really don't like it, let Elio Motors know, or change it after you own it, or don't buy the Elio.
When they gathered feed back at the shows, it doesn't even register for most people what the dash looked like.
My word of advice is; once it's out in production, EM and PE are going to have to live with their decision; we don't.
Let's define what we're talking about. Is it the entire dash, or just the speedo that's the problem? For me, it's the entire dash. I loathe and despise the speedo, and we are probably stuck with it -- but perhaps it can be modified as to the numerical scale, etc. But the dash as a whole is bad, and I don't believe that it is 100% engraved in titanium. In fact ... NOTHING is engraved in titanium until the first production car rolls off the line.
Enough noise gets listened to. Fact of life.
I invited a friend -- who supports Elio and wants it to succeed -- to take a look at the dash, which he hadn't been aware of in its P5 guise. His exact words were "J****! That looks cheesy, and I hope they don't go with it." Amen.
A majority of a very small sampling! Maybe 2 or 3 hundred total responses.
Looks like the real majority didn't care enough to vote.

Dash Wars: The Face Awakens
(cue the screen crawl and dramatic music)
It has been several years since the galactic anti-hero, Darth Elio, blew up Starbase Detroit with his plans to mass produce the Elio, a lightweight and efficient fighter for the masses. With this new weapon, Darth Elio's plans to win the peoples' hearts and rule the automotive galaxy began to take shape. In the meantime, the ungrateful citizens of the Republic, led by Puke Dashblocker, have risen up to rebel against Darth Elio and his long remembered master, Lord Elgin. And on the small, inconsequential planet called Elioowners.com, the rebellion continued to fester, unstoppable except perhaps by the new hope of an adequately-funded and timely mass production and distribution of the Elio throughout the galaxy, including that far-off Outer Rim planet known as Cantaffordia...
"Inexpensive, affordable, safe, reliable, high mpg's....these are things that (literally) "millions" of people need! If you and I don't appreciate the tremendous value that EM is presenting to us, them we should go buy something else. Everyone who says, " I won't buy it if it comes with that dash!"...I thank you! It means the Elio YOU "would have bought & not appreciated" can go to someone who really NEEDS it! So, by all means, keep up the good work! Tell all of your friends to "NOT get in line."
You can take pride in your efforts to "slow the project down until EM sees it YOUR way." Maybe, someday soon,(if we all stick together) we can all feel the collective power and pride that comes from bringing a corporation to its knees....Especially one with such an "arrogant and stubborn" CEO! Did he really think that his "naive invitation" to "bring us along for the ride" would really be appreciated? He should have known that we would eventually try to "take over the bus!" Yes friends, Let's show him that WE can be even more stubborn!
If we "play our cards right", about a year from now, we could ALL be staring at our empty driveways with pride!
But that's ok, cause 8 to 10 years from now,the Next "dreamer" to try it, will KNOW BETTER than to ignore US!
Now, who wants a hug?![]()
