That inside-the-park home run last night on the Royals first at-bat was really an error. Both Met outfielders could have caught it. Center fielder doesn't normally play that position according to an article. If you watch the replay, the left fielder stopped before the ball landed, and the CF lost sight of the ball and ended up over-running it. The ball passed between his outer thigh and his glove, he almost made a miracle catch. Then the CF accidentally kicked the ball, it bounced along the wall and way behind the LF to the left. As soon as he kicked the ball, it was no contest, Royal batter was fast.

For the game last night, there were 2 errors (besides the play above), one power outage for the Fox broadcasting truck and generators, one pitcher that had his father pass away before game time and the pitcher didn't know until he came out of the game. Thirteen pitchers, 417 pitches, 3 total HRs, a great comeback by KC with a HR to tie it with 1 out in the 9th, 14 innings total. Mets closer blew a save in the 9th inning, his first blown save since July 30.

First pitch was an inside the park home run. Have never seen one live or on tv. Pretty cool way to start out the night.

Got no team in the fight. Good luck to both. The World Series is the only time I'm interested in baseball anymore.
that and hockey , curling, rugby, hog calling, golf, tennis, bowling and (get to your keyboard) NASCAR!!- round and round they go.........
