I decided not to inquire about this scooter.
I did the figures with tax, title, registration and electricity @ $.01/mi.
I would hope that the thing would get an average of 300MPGe over the next 7.2 years.
That's being optimistic and hoping gasoline averages $3 per gallon over that time period.
And hoping that electric rates don't skyrocket.
My Virago gets just over 80mpg and my normal bike
commuting mileage is, at most, 2,700mi/yr.
It would take me about 7 years to break even on the purchase and electricity, even at these prices.
The scooter's manual recommends charging per each use, but I'd be charging three times a week.
That would, at least, insure that the charge would rarely drop below 50%.
The minimum life of the bank is rated at 400 full deep cycle charges.
The maximum life of the bank is rated at 1200 light shallow charges.
I'd be attempting to get 1000 "medium" charges out of the existing batteries.
The batteries are currently $169 each.
Now I realize that $845 for a complete bank replacement is relatively cheap
But who knows how much they'll cost in 7 years or if they'll even be available.
So, the bottom line is, at best, I'd have to buy an entire new bank in 7 years.
At that point in time, I'd have put almost 19000 miles on this little pup.
For basically the same money, I'll run the Virago with an "R" title for the next 7 years and beyond.
It's got double the HP, double the top end, almost 9x the practical range, and it looks and sounds great.
Besides, I've got the option of putting antique plates on it this year.
This is the link for the scooter. It does look like a great deal. I'm already good on cheap two wheeled transport:
Electric street legal fast scooter - $600 (ravenna ohio)

I also hope this puts some additional perspective on the Sway.
The "beta" lithium Sway would cost me $8K + $480 in tax, plus prep and delivery.
I could haul the scooter home for $600 (or less?) + $36 (or less?) in tax.
There'd be no collision insurance because I wouldn't have $9K at risk.
The scooter has the same range and 10mph more top end as the Sway.
These deals are out there if you're patient and you look for them.
