Wonder what speed it would take ,if you slammed on brakes in the Elio , that the back would flip over the front? I would hope the ABS would control that from happening . Just thinking with the 2 front wheels working like a henge and having most the weight up front or at least most half way ,it would make the rear tend to lift.

Interesting thought. Think maybe the rear wheel brakes milliseconds before the front brakes? Probably not, huh?

But it sure works on a bicycle.

Same thing that keeps it from happening on your present car. Front tire traction will break first on either left or right and a skid will result, IF you insist on standing on the brakes that hard. Elio also has ABS ,if that is more comforting.
Stoppies are possiable on some motorcycles due to the single front wheel, really sticky tires, and a high CG.

Keep in mind the Elio is the same length as whatever you are driving now. It is only narrower. Front to rear weight bias is the same. Short answer, you can't slam on the brakes hard enough to flip the vehicle over.

Front and rear weight bias is the same. It didn't know that and wouldn't 'have guessed.

I don't see "stoppies" a threat with an Elio - cg way too low, down somewhere near a line connecting the front and rear hubs. Now, that doesn't mean they're completely impossible, with a ultra-lightweight driver, and a raised manhole cover striking the rear wheel at just the right speed at a critical point while full-on panic braking, but the solution is simple . . . just ease off the brake.

Getting this vehicle out of sorts is going to be very difficult and most likely involve some very serious adverse conditions and/or the driver doing something really stupid.:rolleyes:

We know that Anti-lock brakes (ABS), traction control (TCS), and electronic stability control (ESC) are all being included standard in the base price and when speaking with the Elio Motors tour personnel what we have been told is that with a full load of fuel and a 200 pound driver this vehicle should be nearly perfectly balanced.
