A Few More Choices On Elio Color Options Would Be Nice.... ?

Do You think Elio's current color choices are sufficient?

  • Yes, they are awesome, and I couldn't ask for more !

  • They're ok, and I can live with them.

  • I really wish we could have more options on colors, and maybe even get to vote on them !

I want a custom paint job...high gloss black, green flames, with an alien's face looking out the back "window"! :)

You got it.

I was talking to a body shop guy the other day, and he told me people were shocked about how much it cost to repaint a motorcycle. Turns out, a lot of the cost of a new paint job doesn't depend on the size of the vehicle. A big portion of the price is in labor.
Things like setting up the paint booth and equipment, finishing body work, matching the color wanted, mixing the paint, and then cleaning all the mess of that paint job up before starting the next one.
IMO, if you plan on a paint job right away, The primer option is the way to go. There will be very little prep on a vehicle straight from the factory already in primer.:)
I'm thinking a moderate (not too detailed) job of do-it-yourself wrapping looks more and more attractive. I've used model airplane "monocote" type stuff quite a bit in my old modeling days.

mellow yellow …

being EXTREMELY bright and visible is CRITICAL in low small vehicles. I ride a bike EVERY DAY, year round, and I will NOT go out without a bright safety yellow or orange clothing..

what I would prefer is the color IMPREGNATED INTO THE BODY PANELS

not sprayed on paint !

a big tupperware !!

interchangeable colors (Smart Car)

does NOT need to be shiny ! total maintenance free,

no wax, no touchup paint, no rust …

Cost offering different colors cost money. There has to be a limit and they offer a pretty wide selection now.
Ford only offers 7 colors for the Focus in 2014 and two for them are red and two shades of blue . If they did not offer the same colors in other lines it would be down to only 2 or 3 .
Elio offers 7 that is plenty .

Hi There! This is Mr. Language Person, taking control of Pohutukawa's account, totally unbeknownst to him.

Cruising the web for all flagrant abuses of the English language, I came upon this forum discussion topic, beginning: "A little more choices ...". OH. Horrors. "A FEW more choices ..." would be ever so much better.

Returning control to Pohutukawa...

Hey - what just happened there? How'd he do that?

Color? ORANGE! And anything that rhymes with it! What more could anybody want?
What about solid color panels vs paint?

The body panels are composite, not steel, so they cannot rust.;):)

So did anyone actually get a guesstimate on what it would cost for a paint job? Obviously custom work, paint & regions will vary.
I'll stop by a paint shop today, with one of my "spec sheet" flyers & see if I can get an estimate on a 1 color paint job, 2 tone paint job & custom "flames" paint job...I'll report back! I'm in Lansing, Michigan, for reference. I'm gonna try & find both a custom paint house & a chain place, like Maaco (not that anyone would ever take a brand new Elio to Maaco...please, tell me you wouldn't do that!), just as a price reference. :)
