My mother was grandma to every kid in the neighborhood. Mom would provide string and a piece of bacon so they could drop it down the crawdad hole in the muddy ditch. The crawdad would not release the bacon and could be pulled up to the surface. That's crawdad fishing.

Did the same in clear running creeks. Fried the tails in lotsa butter. Ate like popcorn. Caught a lot in ponds but with a seine. Those were for trot lines and limb lines and such.

The ad is trying to appeal to both political camps despite their different outlooks.

I wish they'd hammer home the fact that oil is finite no matter what the price happens to be, even if the average dullard doesn't want to hear it. The 2015 dip in oil prices due to OPEC & Russia flooding the market caused many to assume shale was saving us and consumers slid back into gluttony. Even the recent oil price recovery to ~$50 hasn't been steep enough to get their attention. You see people squandering it with engine idling and purchases of bigger models.

I think Elio's chances could vastly increase if oil gets back up above $100/barrel.

Only it's that EVIL fracking that IS saving us at the moment. And oil continues to be produced, only very slowly, so it's not technically finite, just practically so.

Well, OPEC flooded the market in order to drive prices so low that fracking wasn't profitable. Shale wasn't "saving us" in that it didn't cause the supply that lead to the low prices, but fracking for American oil has drastically upset the status quo for the international oil supply. OPEC can no longer simply cut production to drive up prices, because then fracking becomes profitable again and American oil starts booming. Thus, OPEC is stuck with being the "Wal-mart" of the oil supply business, making money by undercutting everyone elses' supply chains.. We will continue to see sub-$3 per gallon gas into the foreseeable future.

ALL THAT ASIDE, the Elio is economical regardless of what oil costs. Because it is simply cheaper transportation than any other new car on the market. It is a new vehicle for the price of a used one. And to all the folks that are digging under the couch cushions for loose change for gas money, the Elio will be a lifesaver even in a $2/gallon world.

Well put Seth. You get a brand spanking new car at a used car price.

And in some markets this new car is going to be way more reliable than say used cars in its price range.

Not everyone is as mechanically inclined as some of us. We can deal used car issues.
