... I haven't had an automatic transmission need any fluid since 2001. Well, the "buy-fix-sell" cars I tinkered with maybe. But, none of mine. 12 cars (and trucks) since then... 13 if you count my daughter's 2001 Prius that she has been driving since September. Maybe I'm just lucky.

My smart's user manual says essentially the same thing as the GM's...no dipstick, no need to check the tranny fluid, don't even think about it, you dummkopf! That there is pure, golden lifetime tranny fluid bottled up straight out of the fountain of youth.

Of course, that won't do, so there are several online sources showing exactly what to do with those upper and lower drains located on the tranny. They're there for some reason, right?
