Technology used on Mustang GT500 and Nissan GT-R is Key Element in Boosting Engine Performance
It takes many small, but crucial details to engineer a vehicle with extraordinary fuel efficiency and at the same time embody the performance characteristics that are important to today’s drivers. Elio Motors recognizes this fact and is the reason we continue to align with the world’s leading suppliers. Flame-Spray Industries, Inc.(www.flame-spray.com) is one such outstanding addition to our supplier network and will be bringing forth the same technology used on the Mustang GT500 and Nissan GT-R to help boost the Elio engine performance.
Founded in 1964, Flame-Spray Industries specializes in the invention and development of new technologies and has been working with OEMs for more than 20 years on the development of bore coating technology for aluminum cylinder blocks and repair of cast iron blocks.
For Elio Motors, Flame-Spray’s cutting edge technology will help us reduce vehicle weight but will improve engine performance and durability and extend engine life, all key attributes for customer satisfaction. Specifically, Flame-Spray will use its patented and award winning plasma-transferred wire arc (PTWA) technology. The process involves accelerating a fine mist of molten steel at high speed onto a prepared surface and then honing that surface into a piston ready cylinder bore.
