Just came home from the San Pedro show. If all the shows are like this, do not go. The website provides more information than show can deliver. First, I so wanted to see and test Elio in person. So I spent $90 in gas to go 200 miles and 4 to 5 hours in the car to be disappointed. Second, I had to pay to get in to see exhibit; this is the only thing I wanted to do. No special consideration for only wanting to see Elio, had to pay; I am allergic to fish, so Lobster Festival did not please me; All other exhibits were selling junk or junk food. Third the exhibit had an orange Elio on display: Nothing else, no add on pictures, no paint options, not even a T-Shirt! The only thing I learned of which I could have asked on line was that the engineers are considering a larger back tire; something I think would be a good investment; might even enlarge the front ones while at it. NO TEST DRIVE that is the prime reason for seeing one in person! Not worth going; not worth spending money to see; not worth paying an extra $10 to see (price of admission). Ugh!

Well, WELL, "J." Think maybe you should spend MORE time on this forum, ask some questions, do some reading, and come into touch with reality.

But in the mean time, take 2 aspirin and get some sleep. Maybe in the morning that "sour" taste in your mouth will dissipate and you will find folks more receptive to your thoughts.

Almost forgot; WELCOME to the forum, "J."

I am sorry you were disappointed. None of us get to drive the Elio as it is now. It is a very expensive hand built prototype. If I had known you thought you were going to be able to drive it I could have told you that was not going to happen. I am glad you have told me about the cost. I did not know that and now I can add it to the information. We won't be driving Elios until next year and the Ride and Drive events will be for those with reservations only. You are literally the first person to be disappointed in the events that I have heard of. However, you need to take some responsibility. A little research on your part including looking at pictures of events, would have told you people were not driving the Elio. My trip to see the Elio was 7 hours RT and I still feel it was worth while. In fact I loved the experience. :-) Z

Go to the Forum and News as I did read and tried to find additional information on the event. There is none! I even posted a thread to find out more information. The replies told me from readers that no other information existed and that they found it scant. I asked the company rep and he had no further information except stay posted for any changes. I really wanted to experience an Elio. I stand by my comments.

Go to News and Forum. I did read and I did post questions about the event. In all the post that I read prior to coming to the event did not give any further information except date and where. Member posts confirmed that little information was available for previous shows. I really wanted to experience the Elio as I am on the buy list. I really wanted to see customizations, something a buyer would want to see. I made this a priority and I was disappointed. The criticism was warranted due to the lack of information. Please to not dismiss this criticism with "two aspirin." It was legitimate and the company ought to learn from my experience and their lack of attention to providing information in the place one would look for event information, not search through threads.

Welcome. I'm sorry that the visit wasn't a good experience for you. A handful of the showings have been inside paid events but the majority have not, most are in parking lots or malls with free public access. For information, the website and various forums are definitely more informative for the most part - only occasionally will they mention something not otherwise listed, but I did enjoy seeing it in person in May, and will again in Nov/Dec. Test drives are supposed to start next year with the next model.

They try to do the shows where the people are....I know in cases they could not find a mall/area who would let them put them anyplace else.

Sorry if I can't support your feelings here. I think that it is unreal to try to compare and expect of a fledgling car company, the same things that you expect from a car company that has been up and running for decades. Elio Motors is putting out MORE than a fair amount of detail for the average consumer who is incapable for doing their on reading and research. . . . . , for whatever the excuse may be.

Elio Motors is deeply involved with the engineering, development and creation of a new car company venture to waste too much of their time "spoon feeding" the few.

Creating and raising a child comes with little to NO instructions or guarantees, yet for those of use who want them, we seem to figure it our, thank God.

So read. . . . Ask questions. . . . . , research. . . . . . , and you shall get the answers. . . . , ahead of time.

WE DID!

It's unfortunate that your experience was unsatisfactory. I would wonder where you got information that you could test drive the Elio. It has been well publicized that test drives will NOT be available until sometime in early 2015 after all the testing is done and all issues are resolved. The forum has plenty of information to help calm your concerns.

I've been to things like that when you have high expectations, and at the time it feels like it was a bust.

Was it interesting to see the Elio in person? What were your initial thoughts when you saw the car? Did you sit in the Elio? Did you get some pictures?

Tell us what you thought of the car in person, because some of us haven't had the good fortune of seeing it up close!
