Hi I'm Ho I'm 65 years young near Chicago. Foreign born and US Raised. (American by choice, not by Chance). Apologize to all now since I'm a nubbie to this. In the big scheme of things what I think doesn't matter much, but thanks, 1st amendment here it goes.

I pray Paul Elio's dream becomes a reality, but have some reservations. I've been following this project for approximately one year.
It appears to me they are trying to market this to investors, for example. Oshosh Wi?, experimental aircrafts née people with money and vision, most of us can't afford the time or expense to build an aircraft. If you truly wanted an air show to showcase your Dream, why not the Chicago airshow. Has a half hour tv show between 1 and 2 million in attendance, located in the crossroads of the nation with a potential buying market of over 1 million. You are drawing from over 100 square miles of highly densely packed population with some of the most congested and time consuming commutes at $4 plus per gallon in the city.

Instead Paul's marketing department wants us to travel 60 miles one way to buy his dream-Joliet or to travel over 200 miles to get a glimpse of it in Oshkosh Wi? Instead show it at WOODFIELD MALL in Schaumburg Il. Easy to get to and hundreds of thousands of people go to shop there every week.

if they build it I will buy
My reasons,

1. It's Built in the US
2. It's a tadpole trike configuration (I own a recumbent trike with a 1hp direct drive electric motor) it's stable and fast.
3. I'm too old to learn to drive a motorcycle and some people in this area believe in Drive Stupid.
4. The financing is great. (Especially if you have a fixed income)
5. I own 2 SUV's
6. I'm moving to Dell Webb, before the nursing home or my future cemetery address and want Paul Elio's dream to succeed and me to have more fun.
7. For the price you're getting fun a/c radio cup holder and to me a sexy looking car.
8 I doubt my wife will ride it.
9 I think I can talk my wife into thinking it's her idea to into buy one, if only we can see one.
10 Happy wife equals happy wife.

Hi Ho, and welcome from Oregon. I love your reasons for wanting an Elio. I have a very good 15 y/o car that is very reliable and boring. I want to drive something fun again. It has been a long time. I'm 72, on a fixed income and a low one at that. I love the idea of the Elio and the looks. There is a huge quantity of information on this forum but be very aware that there are facts, speculation, crazy ideas, fun ideas and some of the wildest discussions you can imagine. There are also some wonderful pictures taken by members who have seen the Elio up close and personal. I highly recommend the thread in General Discussion/On Sunday I met a man (or something very similar to that) by Ralphe. It is a wonderful story. Enjoy your adventure towards Elio ownership but watch out for that wife, she might decide she should be the one to drive it. LOL :) Z

Edit: I forgot to mention we have a terrific support staff in case you have any questions or need help with anything. They are usually listed in a separate box above the list of members, when they are "on duty". They are great guys and very knowledgeable. :-)

I thank you all for welcoming me. When we got married in 75, my wife owned a 72 or 73 blue Gremlin straight 6 and it had positraction. Only problem was if a kid wizzed on the rear tire you would spin it. In order to push it out of the parking space you would push it sideway in the snow. It was that light . Does the yellow Gremlin have that tendency? (Fun to drive gave it to my mother in law lasted about 10 years we fixed it ourselves sister in law totaled it) 1972 vw Beetle Fun to drive no heat. Reason I knew my then girlfriend now wife going on 40 years loved me. She went out on 2nd date with me after handling her an ice scraper and a quilt to keep warm. Totaled by sister in law. This car was very holy seemed always to break down on Sundays or when it rained.
Living in Chi you get accustomed to potholes, crooked politicians and nepotism, and where I live in the suburbs to snowdrifts crooked politicians etc etc . The front wheel drive helps, but I'm wondering about the exposed steering components being subjected to the freezing rain that encases your car at night or the effects of the chlorine salts used on our streets and potholes which in some cases can easily bend your rim. I know they are going to offer a 36 month warranty being serviced by Pep Boy, but does anyone know if they have addressed component durability anywhere. Reason I ask is quality matters. I hope when Elio comes out they realize that. Will be taking Eliho under serious consideration. Although My plates read Tenor. (as I get older I'm becoming a Baritone).
Haven't decided on a color yet, but I liked the flag themed red white and blue the most. Hope they offer it. Good night

Hi this is Ho.

Emailed EM about a week ago as suggested by H2dog, regarding my concerns about corrosion and quality in general. Haven't received a reply yet. Found a blog called 2Gas, that was very negative about the Elio, for no reason I could readily discern. Found the writer to be a very embittered opinionated individual appearing to relish attacking his readers on a personal level, sort of shock radio on the internet. Seemed very prone to publishing his opinion and rumors as facts Then mitigating them by providing a small disclaimer when caught in the act. I felt sorry for him he personally I felt he lacked integrity and credibility.
If Elio Motors replies I'l post it.
Praying for a red, cruise controlled, sun roofed, hitched, three wheeler to be built, that's as much fun as my recumbent tadpole trike. Have a good night.
