There is so much not "Made in USA" and I respect any who doesn't outsource products. As far as autos are concerned I almost always buy American, or at least an auto made in this hemisphere. I know the engine in my Buick is made in Mexico, but I try to buy American as much as I can.

I've been a gear-head all my life - raced, rallied, auto crossed, etc, in Brit cars, but there were no American sports cars at the time (I couldn't afford a Corvette). I envision Elio races!

I'm excited about the Elio (reservation 100035258) I just hope I have enough time to enjoy it.

Attention Mr. Elio: My Son Jess lives near New Orleans. I hope he gets to drive one later this month.

Well, Welcome, Jim. I also try to buy American whenever I can. I've spent 22 years so far serving this country and feel I would be doing a disservice by sending my money overseas. However, it isn't always easy. I first put down a deposit on an Elio not to get a neat car but to support an American endeavor. This is an idea long overdue and if driving an Elio helps keep my friends out of the Mid East, so be it.

The impact of driving an Elio is miniscule but it reminds me of a story:

Man and his daughter, Sarah, are walking along a beach covered in stranded starfish. The 5 year old is picking starfish up and throwing them into the water. Dad says "Sarah, there are millions of starfish here. You can't possibly make a difference." Sarah tosses another one in the water and says, "Made a difference to that one."

:(

Hi and welcome from Oregon, Jim Planck. Your son will be able to sit in the Elio but not drive it. The ride and drive events for reservists will be much closer to production and will be done in production models, not hand built prototypes with hand-me-down parts. I hope your son enjoys seeing the Elio in New Orleans. Tell him to look for people with elioowners.com t-shirts if he wants to talk to people from this forum. Others will be wearing the EM t-shirts so they will be easy to identify. I hope you enjoy this exciting journey and adventure to Elio production and ownership. :-) Z

anyone know the name of the Mall where the tour will be in New Orleans Nov 14, 2014 - Nov 16, 2014 .... I have a friend down there who is interested .... as of this post, they haven't named the location one the Elio website

Jim
We have to wait for them to post the information. I will keep checking although after their push to get to Shreveport from Las Vegas, I suspect they are going to take tonight and tomorrow off before going to New Orleans to make arrangements. At least I would do that if it was me. :-) Z
