You are correct about the sun, but FLA will always have more than enough water- we have a rain season too. (Great for getting rid of snowbirds) while it looks like your on the bottom of the water (food chain) list from the Colorado, almond growers and L A. will suck you dry. Worst case for us desalination (SP?)
