Elio Addict
I am concerned about the visibility of the Elio when driving at night on an interstate. What would a driver of an 18 wheeler see? Since the vehicle is an enclosed motor cycle, are 18 wheeler drivers expecting to see motor cycles on the interstate at night? The back of the Elio is narrow which constrains the type of conventional lighting that can be used. Because of the trunk, the Elio does not have a light bar located at a higher elevation as is found on many four wheel vehicles. I have read Elio's press release of Feburary 3, 2017 pertaining to Alpine 4 Technologies Ltd's BreakActive. "BrakeActive is an innovative, high-margin aftermarket programmable brake-light safety device. Its technology improves a vehicle's third brake light in order to substantially reduce or prevent rear-end collisions. According to the National Highway Safety Administration, rear-end collisions can be reduced by 90 percent if trailing vehicles have one additional second to react. BrakeActive assists in providing that extra time to react. Source: https://www.eliomotors.com/press-releases/ . My knowledge of this product is null due to the absence of information on the Internet. Therefore, I am looking for ways to light up the back of the Elio with all of the good taste and restraint of a Las Vegas casino. The requirements would be that the lighting be legal, no holes are to be drilled into the trunk lid and no wires running across the exterior. I googled "automotive rear lighting systems" I started with finding an LED light strip which proved to be problematic then I found a rear facing laser:
Audi Laser
Hergon Laser
Youtube is full of car and motor cycle rear facing laser videos. I like the idea of a small device creating a big, red light bar on the pavement. Any thoughts?
