You would have been fine anyway. Any vehicle legally registered in any state (and complying with that state's laws) can be legally driven in any other state. (There are some exceptions, I think.)

There are a bunch of Polaris Slingshots tooling around Maryland on VA plates. They can't be registered in Maryland.

Good to hear. Now, if Missouri and West Virginia would drop their helmet requirement for the Elio... Now if Montana, Arkansas, Alaska, Hawaii, and Rhode Island would just drop their "under 21 must wear a helmet" requirements, we'd be in business...

Next - dropping the motorcycle license requirement. Does anyone know where Elio stands on that issue in the states?

The people in the government of Maryland passed House Bill 805 which defines an "autocycle", regulates it as a motorcycle, and allows it to be driven without a motorcycle license or helmet.

That's really interesting. They had it requiring motor vehicle safety standards, and crossed it out to read motorcycle safety standards. This is not good news -- there are many cheapo three-wheelers imported which would be legal as auto cycles under this definition and be drastically unsafe.

Sloppy legislation, and the Federal regulation changes now pending may be necessary to correct this kind of muddy legislative thinking. Elio had better hope that's the case, because being branded as one of these grossly UNSAFE vehicles is not to their best interest. They don't want to be tarred with the same brush, so to speak.
