Seems like it's gonna be super efficient, but I wonder how it stacks up to the OPOC?




The OPOC engine should go into production in China later this year or next. I wonder how these two engines will compare and ultimately if an OPOC engine could be put in an Elio vehicle? If so, I wonder what the hp/mpg specs would be then? Probably pretty extreme.

I was thinking the same thing. I also failed to see a Bill Gates connection. I wonder if the engine had technical hurdles that they couldn't overcome. There is a lot of rotational mass in that little engine.

It uses the heat produced by the engine to flash water to steam in a second power stroke. Water turns to steam at a 1,600 to 1 ratio. A side benefit was the engine was self cooling mostly. We waste so much energy heating up our engines and more energy cooling them back down.

Those are just articles with good info. If you look deeper into OPOC Engine info on google, it says they'll begin production in 2015 or 2016.

Regardless of when/if it will be built..... on paper and by design, which engine do you think has greater over potential?

The OPOC looks complicated, and expensive to build, for a "two stroke" engine. Most two strokes engines are slowly being banned in the USA. Especially for highway use. I don't think I ever read anything about the "size" of the OPOC engine.
