Figured I'd introduce myself. My name is Stuart, I'm an Automotive Engineer working in Troy Mi, right near EM and IAV. I found the Elio about a month ago and after watching how it's progressed in that time felt confident enough to go all in for $1000, so soon I'll have my confirmed place in line!

In past lives I've been a bicycle mechanic, a machinist and a CAD/CAM technician. I've been involved in automotive forums since 2009 when I bought my 2000 Mercury Cougar V6. Since then I've replaced just about the whole car, engine was upgraded from a 170HP 2.5L to a 210HP 3.0L, Torsen Differential, 80A roll resistors, Tubular Control arms, Koni Sport adjustable shocks, H&R lowering springs, and a number of other mods I can't hope to name off hand.

I'm not looking to modify the Elio at all, been there, done that, couldn't afford to get the t-shirt because everything cost's so much to do it right. I just want a reliable, cost effective vehicle to make my 30 mile a day commute with that also looks interesting. Sure, if the engine ever goes out on it I'll find a junkyard 1L Ecoboost from a Fiesta and throw it in there, but I'd also replace it with a new Elio as my daily driver

Hi and welcome from Oregon, Stuart. I hope you enjoy this very diverse group of Elio enthusiasts as we travel the long journey to Elio production and ownership. If you are interested in seeing the Elio be sure to keep an eye on the Elio Event forum because the Elio is going to be at the Dream Cruise in Detroit. You can also check out the calendar of events on the EM website. We transfer new information to our calendar as soon as we see it on EM. I know my son is hoping to drive up from Toledo to see the Elio during the DC. The dates posted for now are 8/16 and 8/17. We will get more information closer to the event. In the mean time, enjoy reading, discussing, speculating along with everyone else here. It is nice to know someone in the industry is confident enough to reserve at the $1K level. We would love to have you fill out the survey in the Reservation and Survey forum. The information is only used to help us see how the Elio is spreading and where we might run into fellow Elioites after we get our Elios. You and will be among those getting reservation numbers at the next release. It has been intimated that the next release of numbers will occur around Labor Day. :( See you in 2015 in our Elios! :-) Z

I stay away from the Cruise's, it's just way too crazy. I live near the much smaller Gratiot Cruise and it makes getting around very bothersome.

My son is facing similar feelings but he really wants to see the Elio. Only time will tell whether he will actually go there to see it. LOL I saw it in Portland, OR last month and found the 7 hour round trip well worth it. :-) Z

Stewart, welcome from New Mexico and to the forum. Congratulations on you decision to go "all-in" and for the confidence in Paul Elio and Elio Motors. Hopefully, you will review the threads in the forum and glean as much information about the Elio as you desire. We are a friendly helpful bunch (mostly) and we look forward to your comments and contributions to the forum. It is entertaining, informative, and passes the time until we get to pick up our Elio's. Welcome, and enjoy the journey.
