I have this on one of my cars. As long as its easy shifting and plenty of front legroom, ill be happy. I generally am most comfortable with 42”+ front legroom.
Make sure you change your oil! I imagine you already know the reputation the timing chains have on the 3.6. I really dig the red interior on the SS, though time will tell how it holds up.
The pinto “explosion” issue is fixed with cutting a section of the metal filler neck out and replacing it with a piece of rubber hose. Not to mention the media greatly overhyped the issue.
BEVs (and LiION hybrids) come with their own fire safety concerns regardless of fire frequency which I...
My 2007 Focus hit 150k before it got a front brake job, its now nearly 180k and still has the drum brakes it came with from the factory. It might still have the original clutch now too come to think of it. I’ll double check with my parents, I sold it to them about 8 years ago and don’t recall...
That increases the wind resistance and reduces fuel economy in addition to removing some of the novelty of a tandem two seat vehicle. Probably something else too.
I saw this and found it quite intriguing. My biggest concern is durability, all production rotary engines to this point that I know of don’t last long enough for my tastes without needing a rebuild (200k+ miles). While Rob Dahm (on youtube) has likely made some improvements in this area, it...
If the width of the chassis in the vid is close to what you’re thinking for production, I’d be ok with that. Especially if it increases front legroom. 42”+ is a minimum for me. I’m guessing there would still be a rear hatch/boot? Also, the console on the right of the driver would take up a bit...
Very nice, the proportions and lines all look good to me. Looks a bit like a Hyundai Elantra or similar in the best way. Glad to also know that the BEX wont be equipped with a Theta II.
@Rickb It looks like I’m going to agree to disagree with you to keep things from getting too sideways. After all this thread is supposed to be about interest in an electric Elio and we have both stated our thoughts about it by now, Merry Christmas.
Just to emphasize my previous post with a TLDR quote for the F150 article.
“Fabien Redon, Vice President, Technology Development at Achates, said they estimate that the OPGCI pickup will achieve 37 mpg (6.35 l/100 km) on the combined cycle—nearly five MPG better than the proposed CAFE 2025...
I agree with your sentiments here entirely. If only more people would adopt this mantra themselves, especially the govt. As I think you miss that this is being thrust upon us over the next decade or so based upon questionable claims of saving money and environmental impacts. I have done the...
I have no problem with the concept of BEVs. I’m just a realist who has dug deep and not afraid to question popular ideas. In fact I constantly keep an eye out for a good deal on a current generation LEAF SL plus for example, I would really like one. The range is a bit smaller than I like, but it...
Yes, you are certainly correct. I would need a new service from the street, a new meter, two new panels, new wiring between the main and sub panels, and a receptacle and its wiring. Dryer is upstairs and is only 3 wire, so it isn’t useable. That is all extra cost on top of the 30% premium for...
Sometimes I’m driving 150 miles a day with only 6-7 hours that could be used for charging. Also I only have one available 15 amp 120v circuit in my garage currently and my breaker panel is already full. I don’t have a 9-5 job.
Achates power already has a killer diesel, but nobody seems to care since it isn’t a BEV.
