I'll probably get blasted again, but we are 4 years in (this month) on the BEX and there's yet to be a fully completed prototype. There's only one chassis rolling under its own power that we know about. I think probably three restarts on design, but none have been taken to completed chassis...
Alright??
I don't think I was asking for that. I was just repeating what you posted previously, since it looked to me that point was overlooked, or misconstrued.
Of course they are cars. Who said they weren't? The point was to look at a small volume manufacturer to see how they do it. That kind of info can transfer to what he's trying to do.
And lots of Caterham 7 cars are on the road here in the states.
This was always going to be an issue with a one man show. He's about 3.5 years in on this project now. There's bound to be some burn out. The man has a life.
That being said, I wish we had a fully completed (running, driving, body on, complete interior) protype to look at.
One of the biggest issues with the kit car idea is that the drivetrain can't be imported/sold with the vehicle without running afoul of the EPA. The engines need to be already in the US and meet US specs. Even then, to be a "kit car", the engine and trans can't be sold directly to you by the...
I would use one to keep mileage off my other cars. I drive around a bit for work, and thought I do get reimbursed for mileage, that doesn't stop the odometer from turning. I'd like to have something like the BEX, hopefully comparatively inexpensive and somewhat easy to work on. As far as...
The original idea was easily/locally sourceable and modifiable body panels in the event of an accident or damage. I understand _why_ you are making them out of fiberglass, but it seems like it makes you the sole provider.
I had a $100 refundable and I have this same problem. I have not been able to get to my Elio account for a while and I've moved since the account was created. I sent an email to them from the Elio web site, and to their credit, they did respond. They sent my check to the old address. I have not...
I had $100 refundable deposit that I put down very late in the game. I decided it wasn't worth it to try and fight for it back. I have not received a refund yet but it would be nice to get it eventually.
I'm glad to see this. I had wondered if it was possible to move it out of the footwell to the other side, but I was reluctant to bring it up. I'm glad that it ultimately worked out so that you could.
Just curious, is this fiberglass floor structural, or a drop in cover over a metal chassis/frame? I may have missed it, but are you going for a unibody type contruction?
