Hmmm....is there more than one red P5? I made a point of checking out the engine compartment (everything was there) and asking a ELIO rep if the P5 was street legal and he said "it is and is in full running order and is very close to the E1".
Paul and others at EM have stated that they will start out at 70% of capacity (about 350 units per day) and ramp up to 100% over the course of 90 days. The second shift will be added later. They weren't sure if that would be before or after the initial 90 day period.
Although I feel very confident that 2017 will be the first year of production I don't think production will begin before July but probably closer to September as RonnieB stated for two reasons. First, the 100 fleet owners will need time to put some miles on their units. The data that Elio...
I think ELIO said they would call/email three weeks prior to delivery to confirm build and options. So they've got my build sheet and a huge factory and as my Elio moves down the assembly line it gets carpet just before seats. It's that how the big three do it?
WilliamH has it 100% correct. Several ELIO reps said the same thing to me in June. It is a well proven 5spd auto used in the European version of the Toyota Yaris.
My avatar is me in a P5 at the show at the Mohegan Sun. The Mustang seat (as confirmed by a Elio rep) was as easy to get in and out of as my Honda CRV. This is possible thanks to a manual seat height adjuster. I'm 5'8" and the next guy in was 6'3". No problems.
Saw the P5 in June at the Barrett Jackson car auction in CT. Elio rep said that fog/driving lights are a very possible option and they are looking at the possibility of mounting them on the fenders. Vibration and wind resistance that could adversely affect gas mileage will have to be addressed.
Some makes such as Honda have very efficient AT, so much so that the MPG on some of them equals the MT version. After 33years of manually shifting tractor trailers I have decided to give my clutch leg a well earned rest.
Grew up in College Park, then in the mid 90's lived in lower Anne Arundel. After I retired from Giant Food in '08 we moved to lower slower Delaware because of the huge difference in taxes of all types.
..."The current plan is to build around 25 E1 vehicles. The E vehicles will be used for testing predominantly, although there is a huge push (from the Blog guy) to get a couple for marketing too!" ---- from the ELIO MOTORS web site.
The one or two E1A's are the ones I referred to above that...
"AMT" as I used it simply stands for AutoMatic Transmission. There are two AMT's available on the RAM 6.7, one is listed as a heavy duty unit which is made by AISIN and cost more than the regular automatic.
Since we are in the 2016 tour events section of the forum I have a idea. The next time any of us go to a tour event go with a list of questions from those who cant go. I drove to CT from Dover, DE just to see the P5. That was a nightmare drive! I can go about 350 miles from here. That covers a...
Coss, there were about 6 ELIO reps there, after 1 of them told me about future test drives I came back a few minutes later and asked a different ELIO rep more detailed questions about the test drives. I would be willing to travel for a test drive as well. ***BTW*** I forgot to mention that the...
FYI: The 5 speed AT is from a Toyota Yaris. European model. Proven and tested. I got this info last month from ELIO reps at the Mohegan Sun/Barrett Jackson event in CT. The AT is made by AISIN. Besides making some of Toyotas AT they also make the optional HD AT for RAM 3500 with the 6.7 Cummins.
Well I guess I had a senior moment as I forgot to mention what may be the most important news I heard from the ELIO reps last month. Although not firm yet it is their intention to start test drives of the P5 or the E1A at touring events beginning in August or September. Now before everyone gets...
Went to Mohegan Sun/Barrett Jackson event in CT last month. The red P5 ELIO was very crowded with interest. Here's what I heard while talking to the ELIO reps. Steering wheel is from Camaro, front seat from a Mustang, see thru trunk lid with rear view mirror is not going to happen, rear backup...
