Our family had a rescue Wire-Haired Terrier who loved our old motorhome so much he'd have a fit every time we started the engine, thinking he was going to be left at home. Need to fill the gas or propane tanks? You'd better take the dog along. He'd make life miserable for everyone in the house until "his" motorhome reappeared in the driveway.

After several years' service on a couple of my cars, Dad and I installed my 3-note Maserati air horns on the bus - to be sure wandering lane-changers knew what was bearing down on them with marginal brakes. They worked amazingly well - that discordant blast cut through even the most distracted driver's reverie.

But our horns served double duty as the dog-caller. All you had to do was bump the horn switch - just enough to get a brief "pfft" from the compressor and here'd come Hal on a dead run from his intesive sniffing expedition several hundred yards away. It worked great when he'd slip his harness at a remote campsite . . . rather than spend the afternoon hiking through the woods calling him (which, being a WHT he'd ignore anyway), just tap that horn toggle. One nearly inaudible "pfft" would bring him at a headlong gallop. Be sure the screen door was open first - he'd tear right through it having cleared the steps in a single bound.

There are plenty of uses for a distinctive horn - I have friends who camped and sailed with us who used the camper or boat horn to call the kids for dinner. But we were the only ones to use it to call the dog. One short squeak usually did it . . . just stand back out of his way or you'd be run over. ;)

FIAMM Low Note Horn & FIAMM High Note Horn - each @ 125 dB, mounted on my Harley (with an isolating relay) and playing in harmony! Less than $20 each and louder than a one-finger wave...

The FIAMM's are great...inexpensive and easy to install horns. I installed the same set on my Honda last year and on my girlfriends new Civic just last month. If you've got the disc/button style horn in your car these are a very good choice. Certainly not the loudest horns you can get, but very effective - you will be heard.

On my truck I installed a small set of Hadley Bully Air Horns...compact and extremely loud! This horn has saved me a couple of times as folks start easing into my lane and not realizing there's not room for two of us. One long blast and they wake up real quick.

I'm reminded on an 18-wheeler I saw many years ago at work one day. Nice looking rig so I went out to take a look and noticed an air horn mounted just behind the big fuel tank. The horn was short and stubby - maybe 12" end-to-end with a big, fat opening pointing straight out to any cars that would be passing on the side. Most truck horns I'd seen were long and slender mounted up on the cab of the truck. I still remember what the driver said when I asked him to hit the horn so I could hear it, "Stand back son - I don't want to hurt you." He wasn't kidding!

Yea, for the price you can't beat them. Simple install and came with the compressor. The relay that came with my set crapped out pretty quick so, I replaced it with a 40amp relay from advance. saved me a few times.
