our Chevy Silverado has to be state inspected this month ..... following having to install a new battery, the garage doing the inspection, says we need to put some miles on it so its computer can clear 5 "driveability codes" .... they say these codes can only be cleared by the truck's computer and to do so we need to put some miles on it .... further they say the number of miles it takes varies widely from vehicle to vehicle .... we haven't take a day road trip in all tooooo many moons so we've decided to head for Elijah's Oyster and Fish Camp === https://www.elijahs.com/ === which is located on the water front in Wilmington, NC .... its right at 125 miles from our home and to get there we take I-40 almost all of the way .... I'll add comments and hopefully pictures when we get back .... originally, one of our interest in purchasing an Elio was for making such day trips .... hopefully when Mark gets his BEX on the market, we can once again go back to planning such outings

You may want to look up "GM Drive Cycle", for your model and year.

I ALWAYS have a problem getting my EVAP monitor to run on my GM work truck (after disconnecting the battery). Gasoline has to be below 3/4 tank above 1/4 tank, has to be below a certain ambient temperature outside, idle truck 4 minutes, simulate stop and go traffic for 5 minutes, idle 4 minutes and put it away for the night. I have to do that 5-6 days in a row, then and only then will that stupid EVAP monitor run.

Far too much technology in the cars of today. Just because they can do it doesn’t mean they should. With that said, the advantage of my EV is that I receive update notifications. I’m then able to Wi-Fi download those updates, and schedule a late night time to install them. To my surprise, the car is better today, in terms of performance, handling, and other features, than the day I bought it back in 2020.

It seems the older I get, the fewer miles I put on our car and the reason I wanted to own an Elio, an Arcimoto FUV, or perhaps a BEX as a city commuter……..a supplement to my family SUV. Based on following three wheeler concepts (ICE & Electric) for the past 13+ years………a fully certified production ready BEX with local sales, parts, and service partners will be to far out for this old geezer.

I did just that and wasn't at all surprised to see that the info is way above my paygrade
Yes... I was trying to run a "drive cycle" on my girlfriend's Dodge. I had fixed a misfire code and we needed to run a drive cycle so we could go through emissions testing & renew her tags.

I'm driving while she's trying to follow the steps, and using her phone as a stop watch. I remember she got quite frustrated with the whole process.

Eventually and with some team work (and curse words) we got it done, but it wasn't easy.

as promised in the opening post ===> the pictures below show Elija's along with the crab dip appetizer and two different seafood platters .... if you like batter fried seafood, theirs is extremely well prepared .... all that was left was some excellent french fries that we aren't supposed to be eating .... the place (restrooms included) was extremely clean .... parking space is limited with one small lot and street parking with meters stretching in three directions ....

What happens is that when you disconnect the battery or clear the light, it resets the rediness monitors. Every car is different on how to reset them but usually a few drive cycles will do the trick. The garage told me that Jeep Wranglers are the worst because they have seen those go two weeks of driving before they all get reset. Here in PA, it will not pass unless they are reset. Older vehicles are allowed for one to not be reset but there better not be a check engine light on. There is no way to cheat it either.
