I had hoped I could drive an Elio before I got so old the state takes my license. I loved the concept of the vehicle when I first heard of it and really, for the distances that I rely on a vehicle an all electric just wouldn't do the trick. The Elio? For the purposes of just travelling to my cabin and back to fish and relax and carry my beer from point a to b, it was perfect. A to B is a distance of 120 miles so yeah for the price Elio was my choice plus at the time if I ran out of juice was I going to plug into a tree? But as time goes on it seems that me and Paul aren't getting any younger. I've just hit my 70's and as I've had one stroke already I begin to worry that I won't see 103. I'm still hanging on to that 2002 Ford f150 at 16mpg and we may die together as I'm not investing in anything else and I've only got $100 in Elio so I won't lose much, but it would have been nice. Oh, And I'm posting this because I see the last post was 2016! Has credibility died in Ca.?

I have a 94 ranger, and was also hoping for the Elio for my 2nd car. Last year bought a Jeep Wrangler. Cause life is short.

If you take care of that F150, you could most likely get a lot more out of it. Ford trucks seems to run a long time. My runs pretty good for a 25 year old truck.

I'm not a Chevy person at all, but I heard good things about the Chevy Volt. It would seem to be perfect for your cabin trips. Maybe not as cheap as the Elio was suppose to be, but it exist.

You could also consider looking at carvana.com from time to time for the cheapest car. I see smart cars on it now and again for around 9K that might be the perfect car for your cabin trips. Doubt the Elio would have any real advantage over the smart car other then its not as cool looking.

You got to move fast however, they don't last long.
