Part of it was satire. It's that people think that if they walk in and claim, "I'm done and have given up" they think that Paul will read that and all of a sudden get this whole thing going. At this point, if you walk away, you lost your deposit no matter what and it actually benefits Elio. That means, they don;t have to sell a $5500 car but a full price one. The more of you that walk away, the better it is for Elio. On the other hand, how many have legitimately walked away? As we all know, everyone that plopped down a deposit was not poor but had enough money to gamble. So, it's no big deal if Elio goes bankrupt. You knew the risk up front and had lots of cash laying around to throw at it. if you didn't, then you'd just wait.

My plan is to take all of those people that gave up and buy one of their reservations for ten cents on the dollar and even though I go to the back of the line, I get a dirt cheap Elio. If you ponied up $1K and I offer you $100, then you'll take it as you stated you moved on. I move to the end of the line and get a $5600 Elio. At this point there should be a few hundred that will do this after Elio announces full funding and a firm production date. I'll jump on your deal and make out like a bandit.

This is all based on that you are not just throwing out idle threats.

I'm not losing my desire for an Elio, but my hope is almost gone. Sometimes even a little bad news is better than no news. Paul Elio are you listening? A simple picture of you holding a current newspaper would at least show you are alive.

Here's my offer. Since you are almost done, let me know in the next post, the date that will be. Just say something like "(insert date here) is when I'm done." That way I can put you on my list of people that have given up hope on Elio and will sell me their $1K all in prixe fixe $7K Elio for $100. In the end, it's better to get $100 as opposed to getting nothing because you gave up on Elio. you get the $100 when Elio is delivered to the first actual paying customer (i.e. someone around the first 50 SIL's). Thanks in advance for doing this as I'm here for you to recoup at least 10% of your investment as opposed to 0%.

I wish I was. That's because they could care about an Elio. For me, I might as well capitalize on the ones that have given up because i offer them something better since they gave up. On the other hand, it's not like a single person is in the poorhouse because they forked over the $1K. So, this is play money that was a risk that can give them some return.

It's an old quote from back when it listed for $6,500.
Minus the $1,000 down left $5,500
It should read $7,500 (list price, no options) - $1,000 (deposit) = $6,500 (no options)

Elio needs to double down on its advertising and stock offering. Offer all new customers a $2000 discount on the Elio based on a $1000 nonrefundable reservation, and similar discounts on the purchase of a minimum of $5000 in stock.

You and I may know Elio may never happen, but not everyone does, and a two for one discount may appeal to many people.
