Depends how long I have to wait and what new and exciting options are available when it is ready. Wish the retro fenders and wheels were stock. At 84 MPG I'd gladly give up a few for the looks. Any engineers out there want to take a guess how they would effect it?

2barrel --- I seem to recall several years ago the change from the open wheels and fenders of the P3 to the enclosed wheel pants of the P4 netted an 8mpg increase in mileage. With the 75mpg requirement to qualify for the ATVM loan that makes it a very important 8mpg.

RonnieB --- Don't forget the "destination charge"and "documentation fee". We've seen no numbers on either of these but could be a considerable amount. There has been speculation that destination charge could be anywhere from $350 to $800. Documentation fee could be $75 to $200. Sales tax is determined by the state where titled. So unfortunately a base Elio will probably be between $8000 and $9000 before any options. Depressing isn't it.

I figure I'm looking at $9-10k out-of-pocket, or $11-12k out-of-pocket should a factory turbocharger bolt-on solution be available for early reservationists. That's napkin math even accounting for my $1000 all-in deposit, 50% bonus, $300 binding commitment credit, and estimations for all licensing, registration, delivery, taxes, etc.

In shopping for a pickup I saw prices of $1295 for transportation/delivery and doc fees of $395. And etched glass (theft recovery) at $199.:(

Skygazer, added options shouldn't affect anything with the ATVM loan process regarding the change in MPG. The vehicle will be tested for MPG with most likely just two configurations, manual and automatic transmissions. These numbers will be used to satisfy the requirements from the DOE, not with additional options attached.

Apply the same thought process to a standard vehicle for sale on a lot, say a Ford F-150. The company is required to post what MPG the vehicle should be capable of achieving (with engine/transmission configuration)...they aren't required to tell you that by selected the bigger tires, front brush guard, etc etc will bring that MPG down...
