Anyway, back on subject, any other affordable and memorable vehicles? At this point, let's not limit to the USA, although to be fair we'd have to equiv-elate to what an Elio would cost in the same market. We can more easily do that if some other US brand is sold there to get a taste for import duties and shipping.
Since that's added on top, it should be easier to find competition outside the USA.
But the car will need to do the same job, that is be able to commute at a freeway/highway speed, at least 55mph(90kph) all weather yadda-yadda-yadda.

Ummm the First Honda CVCC in 1970 it was selling brand new for $1,995.00

Hmmm...Scanned through the whole thread. No mention of the venerable VW Bug? '65 Type I sold for $1560.
That was one of then furrin cars back then; no one wanted them.

Probably true! I always like them. Had a '70 back in the '80's, and graduated to 914's in the '90's. Love the simplicity of aircooled motors. Replacing the clutch took less than an hour.John-b-gone

It was a status symbol on the C.U. campus in Boulder where I grew up. I hope the Elio will replace it.

I grew up just down the road in Arvada, CO. Had some good times at the CU campus...If I remember correctly.
