I wonder what one of these will go for on the open market while all the late registers are waiting for theirs, or people who don't register and decide they want one at almost any cost?

Welcome Cburg. Good question. I think once production ramps up, it would not be more than 3-4 months. Paul Elio explained the training on the production line and it sounded to me like volume would increase at a good pace. Just a guess from me.

Curb, welcome form sunny warm New Mexico. Some really fret people on the forum and are willing to answer any questions you may have. Enjoy the journey and the Elio experience.

WHEN THE ELIO GETS INTO PRODUCTION AND THEY START SHOWING UP ON THE STREETS ,
I THINK THERE WILL BE A RUN ON THE MARKET .

MUCH LIKE THE INTRODUCTION OF THE VW NEW BEETLE , THE DEALERS COULD NOT KEEP
THEM IN STOCK AND INDEPENDENT CAR DEALERS WERE RESELLING THEM WELL ABOVE STICKER .

THIS WAS ALSO TRUE OF THE PT-CRUISER BUT THE NOVELTY SOON WORE OFF

I LIKEN THIS PHENOMENON TO PEOPLE WHO WAIT IN LINE FOR HOURS TO SEE THE FIRST SHOWING OF A
NEW MOVIE WHEN THEY COULD SEE IT IN FEW MONTHS AT THE DISCOUNT THEATER FOR 1/2 PRICE & NO LINE !

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT I LOVE ABOUT ISETTAS & MESSERSCHMITTS IS THAT THE MAGIC HAS NEVER WORN OFF .
THEY STILL GET THE SAME ATTENTION THAT THEY DID 50 YEARS AGO . I HOPE THAT THE ELIO CAN DO THE SAME .

Of course it's all speculation, and I'll add, yes initially there will be folks who see one on the road who "must have it", and can afford to pay a premium. When it's all in place, there will be no incentive to buy privately as with a 24 hour turn-around, you'll be able to order exactly the options and colors, by that time, yours will be a "used" car, and I'd guess 50% of purchase price Timing will be everything- and in my case I'm hoping I can sell my 7013, while it's still very "hot" at a premium, which will offset purchasing my second, if not keep the first and sell the 2nd all-in. the third allows me to just walk away and get my $100.00 "want in" deposit refunded.I think at one point (60k?) reservations will closed, so any type of deposit will ensure a vehicle, before it's easily available (stores are open) to the "public" hey, but that's just me. I hope we all get to be owners and not reservationists.

Supply and demand.
At first, the price will follow hype. I'm sure someone will pay over $20k to be one of the first to own.

It could also end up with the Yugo effect and be worth nothing.

Tough to say.

I don't expect the first year or two to be 5 star reliable. Which is one reason that I'm buying with almost no options.
Ever see a first year release of a new or even reengineered model? They usually have loads of problems.

Good Plan! In seeing the closed first run estimated 60k production number, I'm thinking there hasn't been much movement from the current 40-42,000 level, seems it may have peaked.
