I saw that disclosure some where and I thought it only said 164 mil. This guy is full of s-it. If they go down, it will not be from anything he mentioned. He said EM should of gone the route of using off the shelf parts like that other company and they are.

He kept saying how he would like to see EM make it, all the while drilling a hole in the bottom of the EM boat.

I think there is a bit of skepticism from him….I am just as skeptical but I also hope it does get off the ground
I wonder how many units do they have to sell a year to make sure the company is viable for the long term? At $1000 per unit, Elio would have to sell a lot of vehicles to pay off loan obligations, the employees, etc…..I wonder what infrastructure is in place to support this car (i.e. do I have to drive 200 miles to the nearest service area or dealer???)

If I were to guess, those that made reservations will get the promised $6,800. (taxes and options extra) selling price and they may jack up the price for the general public once those initial volumes was out for everybody to see all across US of A and once the feed backs from the owners and reviews comes back positive! EM knows they have a winner on their hands and playing it the right way so they can maintain market viability once it's out there. For all I know, they can even come up with a 4 wheel version of the Elio(sometime in the future)...after all, what is one more wheel since the body is already very aerodynamic and then add a more potent engine which can still top the Toyota Prius out there in mpg minus the expensive batteries (that by the way are very expensive to replace!!!) and... I can go on and on but it's just me talkin'!:D

I am definitely still on the skeptical side even though I was optimistic enough to make a non-refundable reservation. I am skeptical not because I don't believe it can be done but because it is very difficult to successfully start a new business of this type and actually make it into production let alone still be in operation five years later.
I hope they are heavily exploring the export option as this kind of vehicles would sell very well in China. Cars are very expensive in China and the government there wants more fuel and emissions efficiency as well as size really matters in a country with 1.3 billion people. Ironically the Chinese really prefer American made products as they reflect a higher standard of quality so those who can afford it are willing to pay a premium price to get American made products instead of Chinese crap.
Wouldn't it be ironic if we could have several thousand Americans working to produce a bunch of Elio's headed for China. I would love to see that especially if it keeps the Elio at a very affordable price for us!

I feel like Elios would do well in Asia and also in Europe. When I was in Ireland, little 2 door compact Daihatsus and Peugeots were very popular. Since the Elio gets good city mpg, I think it could sell very well

I think with all the anti-capitalistic dealerships pushing protectionism in the states, both EM and Tesla will be looking more to other countries to sell and produce their products. Tesla is all ready.

I figure I can ride the bike to Shreveport towing the trailer. Hitch the trailer to my Elio and tow the bike home.
I checked on Amtrak last night just out of curiosity because my dream is to take Amtrak from Eugene, OR to Shreveport to pick up my Elio. Then I would drive to Pennsylvania to pick up my Mini Mate tent trailer. Then to Toledo, Ohio to visit my older son who introduced me to Elio. He will be so jealous because he wants one but will need a 3rd garage (LOL) because he doesn't want to give up is Honda Insight or Toyota pickup. Then on to Seattle to visit my younger son and then home. Amtrak would cost around $250 and would take 70+ hours if all trains run on schedule (a very big IF) and only 1 hour 20 minutes of that would be by bus. Whew! That is a whole lot of sitting but I love Amtrak (you meet such interesting people on it) and I would love to visit the factory. I visited the Nash (any of you remember those?) factory in Kenosha, WI with my parents when I was 11 y/o (1952 in case you are curious). What a difference a few years has made in production techniques. :-)

Actually, I wonder if backing it onto the trailer might work better. "Y'" shaped trailer.
Might mess up the CG of the trailer unless it was designed right or counter weighted. Weight needs to be forward or positive on the tongue when fully loaded. Otherwise, the loaded trailer can start whipping and that is a night'mare that no one needs to experience!

delivery...Hmmm? now you got me thinking what a custom built Elio trailer would look like. Three ramps like a motorcycle trailer, low to the ground and made of lightweight aluminum. I can just picture one Elio towing a racing version Elio!

Yes, another aftermarket item - A custom built trailer for towing an Elio behind your motorhome.
I see an "Elio cup" in future versions of Gran Turismo. :p
