Happy Friday Elio’ers! We hope you had a fantastic week and are ready for an even better weekend. After a long work week, we’re always on the lookout for a reason to celebrate, and fortunately for all of us, almost every day is a National ___ Day, so let’s see what we have coming up this weekend.
For those of us with a sweet tooth, today is National Dessert Day. It is also National Be Bald and Be Free Day (no, we did not make that up.) Saturday is National I Love Lucy Day and Sunday is National Dictionary Day. It’s safe to say that if you’re looking for an excuse to have fun this weekend, you won’t have to look very hard!

Followers of Elio Motors are an inquisitive bunch, probably because the Elio is a conversation starter itself. People who are just learning about us have a ton of questions, like how many wheels, how can you get such incredible gas mileage, how many colors, etc. Then you have our most ardent followers who like to ask engineering questions that we will answer and share as we get closer to production. In an attempt to answer some of the most common questions from both newbies and hardcore Elio fans, here are some common questions that have come in through email:
Q) What’s going on with the E-Series vehicles?
A) The E-Series vehicles are progressing as planned. We have shared E-1A going to Continental, E-1D heading west and the fact that one E-Series vehicle will stay at our Pilot Operations Center to be used as a “match vehicle.” Stay tuned, as we will have a ton of great information that we will share with you shortly about our progress. As a heads-up, make sure to check out next week’s Momentum, which will have the latest news on an exciting E-Series vehicle development.
Q) What comes standard in the Elio? Where can I get specs?
A) If you’re looking for some basic information on the vehicle, click here for an informative PDF. Feel free to print it off and pass it around the office!
Q) Is the Elio electric?
A) The Elio runs on regular unleaded gasoline and is powered by an IAV and Elio Motors designed traditional internal combustion engine. The secret to the great mileage is the efficient engine, plus the design of the vehicle!
Q) Do you offer test drives?
A) Our plan is to have a “ride and drive” series across the country prior to production. With our “ride and drive” series, reservation holders and fans will be able to get the Elio feel before they take delivery of their awesome new ride!
Q) Speaking of delivery, how will I get my Elio?
This is a fairly common question. There are quite a few determining factors, such as if you have a reservation, your reservation level, etc. What we can tell you is that there will be some pretty great options to choose from. Reservation holders will receive an email a couple months before their vehicle is ready, and at that point they can pick their color, transmission, options, and delivery option.
Thanks to everyone who reaches out to us and asks great questions. We love the fact that our fans want to know everything there is to know about us, and we will continue to keep everyone informed. Don’t forget to check next week’s Momentum for an E-Series update!
