(...hmmmm...Aprilia goes silent, Da Stig pipes in... Same Song, Different Dance...)
Aprilia is no longer with us :rapture:
He's decided to go elsewhere. :spy:

Their arguments are soooooooooo compelling. I am selling all my shares to the lowest bidder.
I'll take them off your hands; $1 each do it for you?
I like to collect junk and recycle it.

Incorrect, debt is a huge thing. I understand your a mod here but please don't say such things as you and I both know its false. Debt is huge. Debt determines how much more money you can get from people that are not....you guessed it...in debt. So for a small company this is big.

Debt also determines which\when\if and how other businesses will work with you. If you come to me and want me to give\make parts for you guess what, if your in over your head 1) you will get parts but only on a cash basis. 2) you are not going to get the economy of scale. Which as a niche vehicle it has already given up.

on this forum discussions are welcome, insults and put downs are not .... because you directed the second sentence at me, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and not take action for essentially calling anyone a liar .... if your comment had of been directed at any other member, it would have been deleted and your continued membership could be in question .... as to your point that debt is important, the goes without saying .... what might be a crippling debt for one company may or may not cripple the next .... the proof is simple, EM states it has its core suppliers in place see this link .... within the last few days they have announced adding Roush as Lead Engineering Partner , they have been and continue to partner with major companies who most certainly do their homework .... debt isn't the only factor such corporations consider, how the debt will be handled plays a major part .... in short, they have access to detailed info that none of us is privy to .... the results seem to indicate that EM's handling of its current debt is acceptable to its growing number of high quality partners

To me a prime example is what Boeing went through in building the 837(?)
(They had it on TV and was a very good thing to watch)
It was the 787 (All Boeing planes have the number 7 in the model designation the B52 is 5+2=7 The B29 is 9-2=7 they had to "fudge" on some)
I saw it; they went through the same gambles with the 777 and the 747 too.
:mod: WARNING WARNING OFF TOPIC :mod:
The 747 was the hardest; besides building the plane they didn't have the building at the time, so they had a 2 fold major project on their hands.
If anyone ever gets a chance to tour the Boeing Everett plant, do it; you would not believe how big that place is. (Yes, they have tours.)
I think it's still in the Guinness record book as the largest single story building in the world.
If the HVAC ever quit working, it would form clouds and rain inside the building (true story).

:focus: We now return you to the thread topic :focus:

Elio brings you options.
Most buyers are likely going to be people ditching "junkers", college students, people with tight budgets, and heavily influenced by modders.
That may appear to be true from your life experience. But I think you might be unaware of those of us WITH a vehicle who want it as a second vehicle. That market is HUGE at this price point.

I understand you're tired of the wait. But it can work and there is every indication it will work. Just a little longer and we'll get there.
Oh won't you stay just a little bit longer. now your momma won't mind no your daddy won't mind..
sorry I really like Frankie Valli.

When I got the email today my first thought was "Push it back, push it back..push target date way back."

in 2014 I was planning on a new Road Glide Ultra my 2013 had racked up some miles. Harley put the RGU on hold but released the stripped down versions. Two years I waited rumors the RGU was dropped. I found that had to except and waited August 23 they announced the release of the 2016 RGU I took delivery Aug 28th. I got by the two year wait going over in my mind what I would do to the new one, color ect. Same thing people do with the ELIO.
I still don't know if it will happen, many things point a no. But hope is still there. I plan to added a second one the day production starts to give my granddaughter. Hope is not a bad thing as long as you remember it is just that hope and not let it over take you.
I want my Cream (orange) ELIO now. The painter that will dress it up wants the work. 2018 may be a good year.
I agree with your opinion on the wait since I've been waiting since 2008, but your analogy of your Harley wait is not quite the same since Harley was building and selling other Harley Models at the time. 2017-18 may potentially be very good years, but won't know until the wait is finally over. 10 years is my max wait period and then I may just buy The Harley-e. EM please save me!

Very interesting analysis. What if the price of the Elio is raised to $9999. Would 50,000 units a year be financially feasible?

"IF" it were priced at $10K, I agree, It would still sell very well...BUT, It would also open up the marketplace for more competition. Any number of the big automakers would see the potential profitability and (easily) "jump in".

$300,000,000/150,000 = $2,000/vehicle + $5,000 production cost and $1,000 sales and shipping = $8,000. Yep!
