Not to many things in life are truly 'ironic', but I think this qualifies. In our building EVERYBODY is required to have safety glasses on as soon as you enter the building [factory] or face a reprimand [not good]. Well I'm coming in the building yesterday with my arms full, thermos, coffee mug, lunch, etc...I go to quickly put on my safety glasses and WHAM , poke myself in my right eye. Hurt like hell but I didn't think it was that bad. Couple hours later I had to go to medical to get it looked at. Long story short, off today to go see a specialist. Poking your eye out with a pair of safety glasses...That's like breaking your toe dropping a steel-toed boot on it.
I hate Mondays!!

I'd love to say I was laughing with you, but I'd be lying. The closest I can do is offer sympathy.

The "safety culture"... One more thing I won't miss when I retire...

AMEN!! The safer the 'sit behind their desks and dictate' white-collars try to make it, the more dangerous it seems to be. "They" implemented a bump-cap law about 6 months ago. Not a terrible idea on its own if you're new to the area you'd be working in, but if you've worked under an assembly for 20+ years that extra 1" or so of height resulted in me jamming my neck hard twice in one day. I flat refuse to wear one now and they can kiss it if they think they can make me. McDonnell Douglas found out they were a bad idea for that very same reason back in '92 and got rid of them completely.

Don't feel bad, Marshall! I was laughing and shaking my head in disbelief after I did it. It was the common reaction from everybody after explaining how I did it. Side note: This is at least the third time I've done this, but the others were relative minor. I guess I should start putting them on using "both hands" before I jump out of my truck.:rolleyes:
