I'm happy to have met NSTG8R in person and that he got to witness the controlled chaos that is the FIRST Championship.

I don't know the words to fully express how proud I am of the kids that make up the Gaelhawks. They've accomplished so much this year, having won 3 district events, a district Chairman's Award, and seeding 7th at champs. Beyond that, I get to see a bunch of kids that are largely strangers at the beginning of the year become a cohesive team and form friendships they'll have for life.

And maybe they have learned a little on the way.

I BUILT A ROBOT FOR HOME DEPOT CALLED "HOMER-BOT" .

THIS IS AN INVENTORY ROBOT THAT IS DRIVEN OFF A LAPTOP & JOYSTICK CONTROLS .
IT HAS A TELESCOPING BOOM THAT CAN BE EXTENDED TO 20 FEET IN THE AIR .
IT CAN BE MANUALLY DRIVEN OR NAVIGATE THE STORE ON IT's OWN .

ON THE BOOM THERE ARE SIX HIGH RESOLUTION CAMERAS .
IT IS DRIVEN BY ELECTRIC MOTORS IN THE BASE & IS EXTREMELY MANEUVERABLE .

THEY TURN THE HOMER-BOT LOOSE IN THE STORE AT NIGHT AND IT RUNS UP & DOWN EVERY ISLE
IN THE STORE . THE CAMERAS CHECK INVENTORY OF NOT ONLY WHAT IS AT CUSTOMER LEVEL
BUT WHAT THEY HAVE IN THE STORAGE RACKS 3 LEVELS UP .

IT DOES A VISUAL CHECK AS WELL AS READING BAR CODES .

THIS IS COMPARED WITH WHAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE THERE SO IF ITEMS ARE MISPLACED , MISSING OR LOW ,
THE STORE EMPLOYEES ARE ALERTED AND CAN GET THE SHELVES BACK IN ORDER .

THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT WAL-MART IS ALSO INTERESTED IN THE TECHNOLOGY .

Don't take this the wrong way, David, but if you can build a robo inventory clerk, you should be able to turn the CAPS LOCK off. Typing in all caps is considered yelling.

Just curious, Ken. How did "Batman and Robin" fair in the competition? Cool looking for sure, but 'cool' doesn't gaurantee success.

Team 148 won our division and made it to the semi-finals on the Einstein field, where the 8 division winning alliances compete. From my seat in the stands it looked like one of their partners began to panic a little when they got behind and got sloppy.

Looking forward to next year? Drones perhaps? Maybe some sort of transformer where the alliance teams build an 'uber-bot'? I wasn't excited about the game this year, but it actually wasn't too bad.
Not a lot of cooperation between the alliance or the other team, which I missed. However, I didn't miss the defense and knocking around of the bots.
Time will tell. I'm sure they are well on their way to designing the next challenge.
