Radar are calibrated for very specific locations. It is programmed to ignore buildings and cars.
It is possible that a gyro copter traveling at 60 mph over a road might have ignored the threat assuming it was a ground vehicle.
It is likely that bad people have taken note of this.
Actually, a small gyro copter like the one in discussion only travels at about 25 mph, I read somewhere. It was flying at 200 feet or below. I had the same thought about this being an example for bad guys. Maybe now they'll come up with a better radar system for the area.

Looked a lot like a Bensen B-8 which has a range of about 100 miles and speed of 55MPH.

You'd think that something as simple as half-dozen or so 'responsible adults' [supposedly what the Secret Service is comprised of] all with a descent set of binoculars could've seen this guy coming from literally a mile away. o_O

Flash him a warning he's about to do something stupid if he doesn't change his course, if he keeps coming, then light him up.

Don't want the WH to sustain anymore damage than it already has over the past decade.

Parameters will change.

It is impossible to prepare for all threats. An occasions all benign threat can change the thought process.

Am I the only one that remembers the Cessna in Red Square?
