Hello everyone. I went to the NYC auto show last weekend and loved the Elio. I decided to put down $100 for now and spend time researching the company and car. This car would be ideal for me if they are eventually produced. I live in NJ and commute to CT every day to work, for a total of 650 miles a week. All I need is a car that can carry me and my briefcase. That's it.

I have read plenty of articles both positive and negative, thus I am still uncertain whether to go $1000 all-in. Production of this car has been postponed twice - and people continue to have faith that this car will be made (which is really amazing).

If anyone wants to comment on why they so strongly believe that the Elio will become a reality, I eagerly await your response. Thanks!

Congrats on your deposit. Most of us have explained many times why we believe in elio. For me, there is no reason not to believe in it. It's going to be a long wait for this dream to show up in our garages. We're in the back seat of this venture, so, sit back, relax and enjoy our forum. Good, Bad and a few ugly, we all are becoming friends, sharing our fears and dreams.

Just curious, Vailen. Were you aware of the Elio prior to the NYC auto show and wanted to see it in person, or did you just happen upon their display at the show and were intrigued enough to put down a deposit (place in line)?

And, of course, welcome to the forum!!:)

I was not aware of the Elio until I went to the auto show. This car fits my needs so well. I love the concept, I love that this car is made in America, and I love how inexpensive this car is! I keep talking to my wife how much money we can save on buying a traditional car for commuting.

My concern is this: will this car suffer the same fate of the Aptera? I was never in the market for an electric car because they do not have the range I need, and I cannot afford the Tesla. But cars like Elio have come and gone in the past and people have lost their money on a hope that never became a reality.

Mind you...I did not place $100 down if I did not share everyone's belief that this car will eventually be produced. I am looking into the financial statements of Elio and trying to determine whether their ability to raise 200+ million is feasible.

What i do not understand is why they can't start smaller, such as one dealership in one city and produce the cars in low quantity in that area? Why try to do massive production and create a national network of dealerships in one shot?

I know this one,

It has to do with economy of scale, and the $6800.00 price. Yes they could start small, but not sell for $6800.00

Welcome. I followed the Aptera to the bitter end. For me the Aptera team cannot hold a candle to the Elio team. The more you read and watch Paul Elio and his people, and learn about the car, the more you will realize they have their act together, IMO.

welcome indeed .... as you noted, there have been some delays which have been explained .... the fact is, none of us work inside EM so none of us knows for sure how things are going now or where they will go from here ... EM has acknowledged that funding is an issue .... from the outside looking in, I'm convinced that they are working on multiple fronts (no doubt some we haven't any clue exist) .... the good thing about having a $100 reservation is you can upgrade at any time you feel it would benefit you to do so .... enjoy the ride
