I'm wondering if EM was to keep taking reservation after production starts, and if EM can keep enough reservations for at least one year production. How long could they keep going just taking orders online? no sales offices.
At some point sales would slow, and then, sales offices would be needed, but if you have a years orders, why open these stores?
Just wondering

Very good question. I've seen no hint at all on that.

I suspect that once they are in production and seen around the country, there will be an upswing in orders .... as the numbers in use grow, so will the number of orders ... at some point that will level off but I suspect that the growing demand will keep the assembly line running for a good while .... once they get the sales locations in place and they become established, EM will have to adjust production to meet demand

Putting down cash up front without the benafit of first hand hand experience of the product has its downsides, but as my experience with my Saturns was that once the product got into the hands of the people, the sales were great until the unfortunate events of the economy going bust. Even then with the market potential of EM, I think It is a worthwhile investment. The reason I went to Saturn almost 20 years ago was I was sick and tired of the BS you had to go through to by a practicable vehicle at a reasonably price. I'm willing to bet EM like Saturn fills that need. :)

Really there is nothing to buying a new car from any dealership today. You should know be for you walk in what you will pay and want on it. If they don't meet a reasonable price someone else will.
There are only so many that will put cash up front and wait on a product. ELIO will hit a wall with the number of people will to jump in on faith.

The more I think about it the more I favor Elio Dealerships with sales, parts, and the all important after the sale service under one roof. Selling a new vehicle is the easy part of the equation. Buying a new vehicle is the fun part.

When mechanical problems occur and or warranty issues require assistance and there is nobody within a reasonable driving distance to make it right, I predict some future frustration. I know EM has a plan for that.

I bought a Lexus RX back in '05 from a Lexus dealership 180 miles from my home and had concerns about followup service. If I would have had a warranty issue, Lexus would have drove to my home, trailered my vehicle back to the dealership, and left me a loaner RX while mine was being repaired and delivered it back to my home. I'm doubting that I will have a similar experience with EM's direct to consumer sales and PB's Service Model. I am more confident in dealerships to back their product.

The follow up service along with the Elio's build quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction is what will keep the factory pumping out the & in mass numbers.

an Elio will not approach the complexity of Lexus ... I'm not a fan of Pep Boys but am willing to give them a chance (with "a" meaning one) .... once the warranty is over, I tend to take our vehicles to local independent mechanics who I've come to trust .... I suspect the same will be true for an Elio .... for me, EM's marketing plan with sales centers and contract service is fine

I agree, and I will do the same, but I doubt it's going to work out for the convenience and satisfaction of the average Elio owner to deal with independent mechanics. I hope I'm wrong and EM & PB have a strong partnership and are on the same page to offer award winning Elio customer service and satisfaction.

As complex as the Lexus is, I never had an issue with the vehicle beyond routine maintenance and service at the local Toyota Dealership and still own the vehicle 10 years later. It will probably blow tomorrow morning.

Latest monthly graph update, 32 reservations/day average for the last month (41,168 total). I care less and less about reservations as time has gone by and more about how fast the money is coming in, but I don't think we can track that.
