I hope that the people from Hearst magazines, Car & Driver, Road & Track, and Popular Mechanics can make it to the show. Their offices are on West 57th St.. Perhaps you could forward your floor map to them. Over the years I have seen all kinds of inventions and products that were in the works featured on the covers of Pop Mechanics and Pop Science. Still waiting for my gyro car among others. The Elio is a hell of a lot closer to reality than a lot of these things were or ever will be. I think that publicity of this kind is what Elio and we forum members need. I don't subscribe to either mag but perhaps members who do can send them an E-mail or letter or otherwise jack them up and get some coverage. Larry

Done. Car and Driver has a recurring theme of being a magazine for real drivers and repeats "Save the sticks" in reference to the dwindling popularity of manual transmissions. I sent off an email suggesting that while they are covering the NY Auto show, they wander down to the Elio display and give us their take on the vehicle.

Anyway, that's that.

Great! Please let us know if they reply to you and if anything shows up in the magazine. Thanks. Larry

The rumors have proven to be true. Elio Motors has listed the New York Auto Show as an upcoming event on their web site.

I just noticed that they have a really nice spot on a corner that is going to get A LOT of foot traffic... They are not tucked out of the way in some corner of the building....

Give or take a few thousand , a 20x40 "island" in a major auto show is $40,000

Then you have add to that amount to cover all the expenses involved in getting the equipment to the show as well as travel, room, and board expenses for all the people needed to support the booth. At CES EM had about 20 people on site as they had everyone there including the entire tour team, other EM staff such as the web team who work the tour sometimes for major events and to fill in, plus all the VP's and Paul Elio. I don't know how many of you have much experience with traveling to Manhattan however it is very expensive so a week of travel for all those people would not be cheap.

My guess is that EM will end up spending well over $100K on this event alone.

Not to mention the expenses of schmoozing with potential financial backers and journalists which I would imagine is also not cheap.
