The model looks a lot like carbon fiber in its current state. Now that would be trick...a 100% carbon fiber Elio...

There ya go! A 3D printer/autoclave that lays down carbon nano-tubes with a high-temp resin to hold everything together, then cures it in the same unit. Hmmmm....Sounds possible! :)

Dang! I thought I just came up with a new process [and actually, I like mine better]! Things in that department (3D printing) are on a "need to know" basis, and I don't have the "need to know".....yet! ;) Still working on it.
Do flat tape laminators count as 3d Printers? (and ribbon lamination?) I was working on those in the 80's for Boeing :).

To be honest, I've never heard of them (ribbon laminators), but technically, I guess it could be considered the grandfather of today's 3D printers. Moore's Law has exponentionally advanced processor's speeds, and everything they touch.

Oh, yes, think it was filament wound actually. Which can be in the form of a narrow ribbon.

I actually really liked your carbon nano-tube printer. Who knows that could be one of those things that is 'need to know' over in your area. :D

Doing this without a top and front view does make quite a challenge. I have had to guess at the various contours.
But I'm definitely getting somewhere with it. Hopefully this will do a 3d print justice.
Someday we'll get all the final views. It will likely mean a build from scratch. If there is a reason to upgrade the models at that time, you can be sure I'll give it a go.
