One more thing, xmas shopping is actually starting to end, to just a trickle by Monday. And people will be on holiday. Gives them time to count their pennies left over and contemplate other choices, like cool rides!

Still 40k by the 31'st is a bit optimistic, but very possible. I suspect for early 2015 EM will do what they can to keep the program going until the goal of 68k is reached.

Just had an odd thought, I have programmed on both 6800 and 68000 micro processor chips. Does that mean anything? Both $6800 and 68000 goals will happen? Go Elio!

I don't remember hearing about a 68,000 reservation goal. Is this true?

Informally, it was mentioned at one time in passing by Paul, according to a couple people. Unless there was an article somewhere.
Still, that would be a good target for a full year. And that may have been the point.

WOW I haven't touched a 6800 since 1989.. what were you programming a 6800 for?
A traffic light?

I was a digital electronics tech in 1976 and bought a Heath-Kit study program with a 6800 breadboard prototyping console. Later around 1985 I was a C/ CAD-CAM programmer helping to implement a Central Connectivity Controller for very large machine tools at Boeing. (Centralized Computer Control). Which just means you could send your machine control files directly to a CNC machine via this 68000 Instruments Machine($35,000 each unit, up to 3 CNC's). Not quite as integrated as 3d printing, but yes, going in that direction, kind of.
By '90 I'd went completely into PC's Databases and Client/Server.

I did once program a PC interface to a automated cut-off tool. The PC would list the parts/order to batch, set the tool to the right length and list the material needed, plus where to stock in inventory. The operator would grab stock, place it,hit the cut button, wait for the outcome, and the PC would go to the next order item and set the length again. Very inexpensive and simple automation. This was for kitting up to build 'French' insulated windows per order, "just-in-time".

68,000 was indeed mentioned by EM in the past however when I asked Jerome about this in Birmingham he said the current plan was to close reservations around 50K-60K however there was not an exact number which had been decided on quite yet.

For the last couple of weeks the numbers have been delayed a week and they are updated on Mondays so that is correct and should be updated to Dec. 15 numbers tomorrow.
