I think the next best commercial application for the Elio is the Zip Cars. I'm sure most of those cars are single occupant only. The fleet has plenty of compacts now. Imagine the Elio's popularity if Zip Car could offer the Elio for half or 2/3 the price per mile or hour that they charge now for their compact cars.

the zip cars are Smarts i.e. 2 seater. My kids use 'em all the time in Seattle, but i think the Elio sits too low, and amazingly takes up a bigger parking footprint (lol)

My daughter is 'single in Seattle' and drives those Zip-Cars, plus uses the bus system.
Looking at the current prices, an Elio would likely cost her less per month than a Zip, plus her bus fees, if she drives more than 10-15hours a month.
That all shifts if Elio prices come into play.

If her status were to change from "Single in Seattle" to..... car tastes might also change (lol)

Don't remember the actual Zip milage/time charges but it was (to me expensive) I remember doing a mental calculation that sitting at a stop light was (to me)quite a few bucks. If your child ,like my two are doing very well (read they earn more in a year than I in four, as a teacher), it's not a big deal. The actual milage they do is very few. Why would Zip pass on the savings to the customer(s). As it is currently set-up there is no direct customer outlay to fill-up.
