I would wait. I don't see any reason to preserve 4105. I don't see a future collectability for these vehicles. If sales go the way we think they will, the market will be flooded with them in a couple years, and you will be able to buy them on ebay for parts. Or, the next big thing will come along and we will be moving on to whatever it may be. Since I've got # 4020, I'll probably see you on the factory tour. I would say drive the hell out of the first one and enjoy it, then order the second one and preserve it if you still think it will have an increased future value.
If the Elio stays at $6,800, all your future options should be all most free. Get a new one every two years and sell the old one for the price of the options of your new one. JMO

eddie66,

Thanks for your reply and opinion, but have you seen the price on an Original/first year issue 'Commidor 64 computer', or a 45/120 Sharps rifle?

The computers made since the '64' came out, have been in the millions/billions?, the 45/120 production, since they were introduced in '1885/'88'?, has been (both original/replica) in the multi thousands. I had my hands on a 45/120 this past week end, but my thought was this or my Elio savings account, was a no go, but may go back next week end and adopt it..

My point is, we never know where it can go.

Thanks, if that turns out to be true then the public should be able to walk in by the middle of '16 and pick up one. I guess I better start my saving account ASAP.
But I'm betting they won't come anywhere close to those numbers.
At 500 per day (say 10 hr. days) that's 50 per hour. Never happen.
Went back and checked, the 500 a day is after the kick in the second shift....oops....long shift.

So by using this graph I would get my place in line somewhere in early December? Just a guesstimate as I don't think more than 10K will be 1K all in Non refund. When I put my Benjamin in it was around the 13K reservation mark. My Elio would be in the 15-20,000th Elio built? Assuming production begins today next year.

I agree that most all of us would love to have solid answers to these questions; however, from a PR perspective I think EM is exercising a great deal of caution to provide only information that is solid & unlikely to change in the future. I'm sure there have been many bumps in the road for EM thus far, and there have been failures. We see how quickly some people are willing to jump on to anything negative and use that as a reason that EM will not succeed. I have been thrilled with the amount of information that EM has provided during this process. The Tech Talks have been great, and responses on FB have been timely and consistent (although I no longer have an active FB account either). Overall I am OK with the rate of info provided, but that is my personal opinion. :)

That's why I tried to focus on questions beginning "what is" not "when" or anything long-term. Answers to most of them don't mean things can't change, but would help to show that the company is in fact making decisions and getting things done, not just hanging around waiting for $$. Oh, yeah, and touring the P4 hither and yon (which seems to have worked very well, I'll admit).

Don't know about you taz, but I don't plan on being around long enough for this vehicle become collectable. At 66 I'll be lucky to be driving this thing in 10 yrs. let alone be around when it become a collector item. Maybe for the grand kids, but they can get their own. I'll enjoy mine while I can. If I had known I was gonna live this long, I would have taken better care of myself.

4. What is the design solution for the windshield wiper?
It was posted that the wiper is not an issue and they will be using a wiper design made in France.
.[/QUOTE]

Jerry Vassallo told me on 6/18 that redesigning the windshield wiper was the single most difficult design problem they were dealing with at the time ... given that the roof height is being raised some 2" above the P4, with a longer windshield as a result, deploying and stowing the wiper where it won't be a source of aerodynamic drag was being difficult. Where was the posting you refer to?
